Trump's Republican support holds strong post-debate - Reuters/Ipsos poll (Jeb loses 5 pts!)

Donald Trump continued to defy the laws of political gravity on Monday as a Reuters/Ipsos poll found the real estate mogul holding onto a wide lead among Republicans in the U.S. presidential race despite an acerbic debate and a feud with a female television anchor that have bolstered charges of sexism.

Trump led the party's 17-strong 2016 presidential field with the backing of 24 percent of Republican voters, unchanged from before Thursday's televised debate.

His closest rival, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, trails at 12 percent, down from 17 percent before the debate.

And as long as you puff Trump, that’s what it’ll come down to!

That is exactly why Trump is in this.

A complete conservative takeover of the GOP is almost within reach.

I have waited for this moment for my entire adult life.

It will be time to clean house once Cruz or Trump gets the nomination.

With that sample size, the poll is meaningless.

I do believe Trump is still in the lead, because no matter how bad he did, he’s not going to fall that fast. But I believe he’s plateauing. His negatives are way too high for him to ever get over 50%. All the room for growth is with other candidates.

I’m for Cruz, but Trump is better than a Bush any day.

I’ll vote for a third party trump unless Cruz or Walker get the nod.

Most of his negatives are manufactured. e.g. his debate performance.

Trump’s not a conservative. He wants to expand government-subsidized health care. Has he ever talked about cutting government?

He will be like most other mega-rich political candidates and want to take a big government and try to manage it better. He has no interest in shrinking government.

I think Trump would be equal to a Bush or Clinton in every way.

“influential conservative group RedState”

Yeah. Right. Most of the MSM never even heard of redstate before they “dumped” Trump. redstate is number 36 on alexa for conservative sites. About 900 showed for their no-Trump,no-Carson fest.
