To the Editor:
Many Americans were outraged at the revelation that Planned Parenthood routinely harvested body parts from late term abortions But the fetus was not the only victim. Thousands of women persuaded by Planned Parenthood to opt for the convenience of abortion over adoption are also victims.
About 1.5 million abortions take place yearly. Over 50 million pregnancies were terminated since 1973.
Pro-choicers argue that women have the right to abortions and Planned Parenthood is essential to ensure that women can exercise this right. Many believe that women who abort suffer little; most express joy that their burden was lifted.
Abundant research ("The After Effects of Abortion" in AbortionFacts.com) suggests that over time, the euphoria of a terminated pregnancy morphs into the anguish of remorse. Yes, many post-abortion women experience five to 10 years where their feelings were repressed. They may deny feeling anything but relief. The passing of time tells a different story. A Canadian study reported that a quarter of aborted women made visits to mental health centers compared to 3 percent of a control group. Often women seek help for mental health crises whose origin is a mystery until clinicians discovered that the onset of these issues were precipitated by the anniversary of the abortion or "due date."
Another survey of 100 post-abortion women years later reported that 80 percent expressed feelings of self-hatred; about half admitted to drug or alcohol abuse; 60 percent experienced suicidal thoughts and more than a quarter of these women attempted suicide.
Imagine the devastation these women now experience when they consider the possibility that their own fetuses were harvested and sold body part by part!
Wait for the deluge of class action suits on behalf of these traumatized women. They can't come soon enough.

They are probably “undesirables” anyway.
I can’t imagine the wounds those recent revelations must have opened again for thousands of women.
The Syracuse P-P office was in a marginally bad neighborhood with a dangerous neighborhood nearby and a larger dangerous neighborhood a half mile away or so.
The thing that kept P-P’s neighborhood “marginally bad” was the close proximity of a university.
I know of women who have had abortions who have a difficult time watching all those commercials with cute babies in them. Especially, around the time of year when they had their abortions. And I know women who become sick when they hear a vacuum cleaner motor.
A college friend had an abortion and was mentally messed up for years after. Deep depression and couldn’t get out of bed or function for months. May still be but lost track of her.
Pray for your friend, and women in like circumstance.
