The defining moment of Donald Trump‘s Friday night campaign rally in Mobile, Ala. was when the GOP candidate for president called Jeff Sessions onto the stage. The four-term U.S. senator put on one of Trump’s trademark “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” hats.
Sessions may well be the Senate’s most unrepentant racist. He was once nominated for a federal judgeship, but his history of racism — including praising the KKK and calling the Voting Rights Act “intrusive” — tanked his nomination.
Trump isn’t supposed to be a serious candidate, and an endorsement from a U.S. senator is a huge step for him. (It was unclear if this represented an official endorsement, but it was clearly a strong show of support. Sessions was especially enthusiastic about Trump’s immigration “plan.”) But it’s natural that the first one would come from the one of the most virulently racist senators.
After all, Trump’s campaign is nothing but naked racism.

I’m positive that the left sees every GOP candidate as being racist and sexist. That includes Carson and Carly.

A prime example of excuse-logic. He hates Trump for irrational reasons, but he wants to think himself rational, so he makes excuses for his hate.
Jeff Sessions has been a blessing to us as a Senator. We should thank the Democrats for blocking him from the bench.
He has led the fight against every amnesty attempt.
Fraudulently documented foreigners who have ignored all of our laws are not immigrants and should not be granted any accomodation.
How can it be racist to support the rule of law?
I guess liberalism really is a mental illness.
The problem is that Trump has a legitimate point, and that point also is very appealing to racists.
But the fact that the political class and even most the electorate -myself included- more or less ignored this issue for a generation or more means that Trump’s rhetoric is striking a chord with a lot of people.
“Racism” is a term thrown around far too loosely. The Donald has great contempt for what he terms “incompetence”, and he is ruthless in calling it out. If many of the “protected classes” turn out to be largely in the thrall of leaders who prove, in practice and in capabilities, to be either charlatans or just plain lacking in organizational abilities and any form of critical thinking, then they may expect nothing but scorn from The Donald. Stupid is what stupid does, and as so famously noted elsewhere, you can’t fix stupid.
But you sure can call it out.
