My husband talked with our local Chabad rabbi, Rabbi Zimmerman and he said so many Jews in the Tucson area are angry that not one temple, reformed and orthodox is against the deal.

Rabbi Zimmerman is in Oro Valley and he wanted to attend Dennis Prager’s event here for CUFI, Christians United for Israel, but was not able to.

Prager in his talked rained shame on the rabbis who were not in attendance and not standing with Christians who want to protect Israel.

Very interesting. Its so difficult to understand where American Jews ate coming from. If its all about liberalism then they’ve been foiled into thinking their own self preservation must be exchanged for liberalism. But bravo to the liberal establishment for selling that one!

"The Trotskys will make the revolution; and the Bronstiens will pay for it."

A Rabbi warning Zev Bronstein -- nom de guerre, Leon Trotsky -- that Jews will not profit from the Bolshevik revolution. The Rabbi was proven correct when a Stalin sent assassin crashed an ice axe in Leon Trotsky's head while he was exiled in Mexico.

Well ain't this delicious? First liberal American Jews supported Israel because it was the "left-wing" position, and now they turn on Israel when that is the new "left wing" position. What a bunch of cowards and scoundrels. I'm actually enjoying this.

And btw--AIPAC is made up of liberal Democrats. It is far, far, far from the "hawkish" organization the Pat Buchanans of the world make it out to be.

Where does Chuck Schumer fit into all this?

On the one hand, he was not afraid to declare his opposition to the Iran Treaty, because, according to him, he consulted with his conscience.

On the other hand, he has been afraid to lobby his fellow Democratic Senators against the treaty — an action which could result in the treaty actually being voted down by Congress since Chuck has enormous power among Congressional Democrats.

It’s as if Chuck’s teeny weeny little conscience managed to stand up long enough for him to oppose the treaty, but then due to overexertion it collapsed and many never be heard from again.

AIPAC has always been bi-partisan, which I think was a good thing. The far left may change that, though J Street hasn’t exactly eclipsed AIPAC as they’d hoped. Hawkish, no they’re not what Buchanan or his fellow traveler Obama describe. Ironically Jews were the demographic most opposed to the Iraq war, in the upper 70% range as I recall. Facts don’t stop Pat or Obama

Seems to me an unwillingness to lobby his fellow Senators would be a disqualifier for the position of majority leader. Or any leadership position, persuasion is what leaders do. Maybe only for political reasons, not reasons of conscience. I’m glad he spoke out, that he’s shrunk back from the role of providing others cover, I’d say that’s a failure of conscience, or more likely intimidation.

Thanks. I’ve been to Cornerstone church a couple times for conservative events. Was invited by a Jewish FReeper.

I’ve been involved with a few back & forths on this subject. When one brings up the Jews in America, it’s so damn easy for them to not be interested in this....

They aren’t routinely targeted for violence
They don’t have to worry about rockets and mortars landing on their homes, schools, synagogues
They don’t have to worry about Hamas, etc, coming out of a tunnel and kidnapping them
They don’t have to worry about someone walking into a market or getting on a bus with TNT strapped to their body

Basically, except for some vandalism once and while(some of which turns out to be fraudulent), they don’t have to worry about sh*t. They have two oceans, a phenomenal law enforcement apparatus and the most lethal military machine ever know to man, protecting their sorry, liberal, leftist asses. With the dregs of the world pouring over the border or getting off a Delta flight at Hartsfield, that might change. They may eventually see what it’s like to be hated, despised, and targeted and they might start changing their minds.

“You can smell the fear. This is what American liberal Judaism has come to.”

Fear. Intellectual calcification. Ostriches. Such an ennobling ideology, liberalism.

It’s not just fear. A good number of liberal American Jews support the Iran nuclear deal out of genuine conviction and dislike Netanyahu and the Likud. Just look at The Jewish Daily Forward. Take Barbara Boxer for instance. She backs the Iran deal and I don’t picture her fearing anyone. She’s a tough, nasty left-winger, and customarily pro-Israel.

They do, and though I disagree, that’s fine. If they buy into Obama’s opponents are traitors or manipulative Jew stuff they need to look into their hearts, because they’re haters.

There is no “Jewish Daily Forward”. The Yiddish commies have dropped Yiddish and any pretense of being Jewish.

Don’t be silly. You don’t next to speak Yiddish to be a Jew, and to this day the Forward is a popular publication among liberal Jews. The minority of right-leaning Jews have Commentary as an ideological organ.
