American voters: Donald Trump’s candidacy is no joke
Personal Liberty ^ | 8/21/2015 | Sam Rolley

The Republican Party elite dismissed Donald Trump as a joke candidate from the onset of his campaign, but average Americans are convinced that the billionaire businessman is the contender most likely to take the GOP nomination.

That’s according to a poll from Rasmussen, which found an astonishing 57 percent of likely Republican voters believe that Trump will win the party’s nomination. Just two months ago, only 27 percent of Republican voters felt Trump had a shot.

But it isn’t just Republicans who believe Trump has an edge over his fellow candidates. Forty-nine percent of all voters say that Trump will be the Republican choice, up from 23 percent.

The wealthy celebrity businessman continues to lead the Republican primary field, polling at 22 percent in the latest Real Clear Politics average. Following Trump are Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 10 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 9 percent. Tied for fourth, with 7 percent each, are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

According to a recent report in USA Today, Trump’s campaign team is currently working to “consolidate the leads he enjoys in Republican polls; then turn out enough supporters to win early state contests; then ride a wave of new and energized anti-establishment voters to the Republican Party presidential nomination and beyond.”

From the newspaper:

Whatever happens in the next six months or so, the New York-based billionaire has put his political stamp on the summer of 2015, and Republican opponents will have to deal with him one way or another, sooner or later. At this point, Trump has convinced a large cadre of volunteers that he can go all the way by stressing issues like immigration and trade and attracting potential voters who have sat out previous elections because they dislike traditional politicians.

Trump on Friday planned a massive rally in Alabama, an event seen largely as a move to secure support across the Deep South.

Relax, political types. It is now out of our hands. The general public has taken over the fight.

re> A tax raiser... BIG GIVERNMENT

We have a Republican House and Senate now. The debt has doubled, my taxes have gone up, my healthcare is expensive with high deductibles. The Congress controls the purse string. You have been fooled.

The taxes must increase even further if we're going to get the military we need...Trump knows this...They all know this...But Trump is the only one with a solution to the problem...

That solution is to get jobs back from wherever they went to increase the tax base...Along with cutting billions of dollars in donations to these countries that hate us...AND making countries pay us when we have a military presence in their country when it is for their benefit...And that's not a bad way to start...

Yeah true.. I voted for Bush and Romney because of Obama now some are going to vote in TRUMP who will make the federal givernment even BIGGER than Obama has..

BUT at least TRUMP does not FOOL ME...
I can see him coming... HEs A RINO.. as RINO as any RINO before him and maybe more RINO than RINO after him...

Statist, taxer, spender, faux republican.. stone liberal..

AND The PIGS want more slop... He will give it to them..
Oh! and he is for Universal Health Care..

Will he get rid of Obama-care?.. ABSOLUTELY.. to make TRUMP-Care.. making government even BIGGER... on future taxes yet to be ANNOUNCED..

People for TRUMP are Foolish... Who then.?..
Cruz of course.. who will do what TRUMP talks about without raising taxes or Universal Health Care..
AND most importantly.. A SMALLER FEDERAL GIVERNMENT..

Republicans for Universal Health Care ARE...... TRAITORS..
It’s UnConstitutional..

>>Ah went over your head.. you support TRUMP..

I understood your whole rant. I just thought the mixed metaphor of the grits and cheese crackers was the craziest part.

FYI, I don’t “support” any of them at this point. It’s only August and my primary is in March. I’m listening to about 5 of them right now, and Trump is one of the five. It is THEIR job to be interesting enough to make me want to listen to a particular one over the rest. But when they start waffling on important issues, I tune them out. I don’t have time for politicians who don’t have the convictions to fight. A person who won’t get loud in the primaries won’t be able to get anything done in Congress. I’m not sure if you understand how our government works, but the president is a LEADER and not a LEGISLATOR. If he can’t lead, then Congress will lead and if they won’t lead, then the courts will. And that is why our country is dying.

Stop calling people names and start demanding that YOUR GUY stand up and get noticed. If YOUR GUY doesn’t step up, then Trump will win the nomination, becuase he’s the only one willing to fight for it and that means that he might be willing to fight the Democrat nominee later when it matters. Trump is doing what he needs to do at this point. What is YOUR GUY doing?

Only two guys in this race.. Trump / Cruz..

AND TRUMP takes the words out of Ted Cruz’s mouth... kinda..
Cruz been saying them longer..

What the difference?... GLAD you asked..

Cruz will do it ALL Constitutionally...

TRUMP could less about the Constitution..

WHy is that important?..
TRUMP will be what Obama wanted to be but couldn’t..
Because of A mandate from stupid conservatives..

As TRUMP grows federal givernment and raises taxes the democrats will be eating out of his hand like puppies..

REVERSE..... Boehner and McConnell.. thats WHY?..
