If a jailed murderer converted in prison, there would be no justification not to release him immediately, if one were to accept that accepting *insert article of faith here* meant the sins were permanently in the past.

I can’t believe any person could possibly think that way, no matter how much faith was involved. I’d consider anyone who actually could take that seriously to be too stupid and dangerous to associate with.

Bullcrap. You just equated the punishment imposed for a crime with things that are not criminal.

Further, with your logic, you cannot speak of morality, as you have also sinned.
