"I think we're going to be reading ham and eggs again," Graham says. "It'll end the way it always ends. He'll wind up losing."

Except for the republican majority he brought in...

It’s Obama who would be shutting down the government - they are utterly incapable of making that case.
*********************************
Exactly. The sequester did not shut down the government.
Obama made the decisions on where the cuts in funding would occur and they only affected about 17% of the budget.

Cruz and the GOP have always been blamed for that action, but it wasn’t done by them. They have never been able to defend themselves against the charges of “shutting down the government”.

That is a thought. Let us say 35 or so states tell the feral gummint we don’t need your crap anymore. What then? Another Civil War? Maybe not? Would Captain Zero allow it? Would Trump? Cruz? Hmmmmm. Of course if it were Cruz it would be more like the other 15 and mt answer would be “don’t let the door hit ya”.

If the GOP Congress was doing the work of the people, and upholding its Constitutional duty, we would not be facing a budget crisis. Over the past six months Congress would have passed individual appropriations bills for each department, agency, and in some cases individual programs to the President for signature. Obama would have either signed or vetoed the individual bills.

It is the monster omnibus spending bills that create the annual budget crisis and drama. Lumping most spending together creates an “all or nothing” situation Obama can exploit by threatening veto and shutdown.

Imagine that Congress had sent 100 individual appropriations bills to Congress aproviding money to various agencies and programs of the Department of Health and Human Services over the last six months. None of these bills included funding for Planned Parenthood or Obamacare. Is Obama going to veto 100 bills in protest of the absence of spending for Obamacare? If he does, who is shutting down HHS?

Consider the same exercise for every Department. Instead of one giant budget bill, Obama has over 1000 individual agency or program budget appropriations bills to pass. To defund a program, Congress simply doesn’t send a bill for that particular program. By breaking the budget up into many smaller segments the President can no longer force Congress to fund his spending priorities by threatening to veto the entire budget bill. If he did veto 1000 spending bills in protest of Planned Parenthood or Obamacare not being funded, who shut down the government? If the GOP isn’t able to play the PR spin on this strategy, there is no hope.

Somebody needs to shove that Lindsey Graham into a janitor’s supply closet and kick the fertilizer out of him. Also saw him on Bret Baer today, Baer should be brought up on moral turpetude charges for inviting that piece of crap on.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Graham is so out of touch. Shutting down the government which really means shutting down about 18% of it is a good thing.

Graham doesn’t realize that a lot of people hate the federal government.

And that includes Lindsay.

“How on earth did South Carolina of all places, manage to elect a human being so bl**dy stupid to the US Senate?”

Flimsey Tinkerbelle isn’t stupid but he is diabolically clever. His checkered career in the Reserves alone is worth a look as to his character (retired this year as Col, JAG).

In 2002 he was anointed successor to the late & much missed Strom Thurmond. Been relected twice (I voted against him both times; the Democrat candidates were actually decent chaps). Flimsey has hitched his star to John McCain as is known.

Grahamnesty’s oily style & cooing delivery is disgusting to watch, like last night on Fox. My 94 years young Mom looked on & asked, “Son, he’s from your state, right? Who keeps reelecting him?”

“Mom, I just don’t know. South Carolina has so many fine conservatives & folks assume that if they vote for the `R’ incumbent, they’re getting a conservative.”
