“Trump is essentially a Nelson Rockefeller clone.”

I don’t know much about Nelson Rockefeller, but from what I have read and seen on PBS, I cannot see Trump in him or vice versa. At all.

“Oh boy. Didn’t Cruz vote for this?”

He was for it before he was against it. Voted for cloture but against the bill. That and his H1B stance tells you pretty much who is calling the shots.

He coulda been a contender. And might make make a halfway decent Veep for Trump. He just needs to be told to put a sock in it with regards to immigration and trade.

“The point is: No one represents YOU better than YOU.
The less representation by elected officials one needs, the better.”

Bears repeating.

Certainly NOT the same in demeanour, but in at least domestic policy.

Good points, but do the American people know this, or is it just that few have heard of Cruz thus far?

He just doesn’t connect well with people, which is in my view a good thing. He comes off as a used car salesman. We can do better than his ultra conservative schtick that fades the moment crony trade or mass immigration is on the table.

Ted Cruz surprisingly had a very large donor in the 30 million dollar range. Donating to a Ted Cruz super pac. My opinion is this donor had certain demands and TPP was one of them....

Cruz isn’t much different from the other corporatist shills running. He knows what side the bread is buttered on.

Rhetoric aside, he wouldn’t be much different than Bush on immigration or trade. On Constitutional issues and social issues he’s better than most. It depends on what is important to you. I view immigration and trade as being of paramount concern, so that colors my view of the candidates. Or whether I’ll bother to participate.

t is my understanding that Cruz superpac money comes 90% from large donors. Could that have been a reason he voted for TPPP?

[Yes, Cruz did vote for TPP.]

Absolutely wrong, and I can’t believe out of all the post on this thread people on the FreeRepublic still don’t know what the issue is here.

Cruz voted for the TPA which is fast track authority for the executive branch to negotiate treaties and have the Senate take them up in a time specified. TPA has been de-rigor for the executive going back to the Kennedy administration.

I did not support Cruz’s vote to give this administration fast track authority based on their track record and their behavior with keeping the details of the TPP under wraps. But to characterize Ted Cruz as supporting the TPP is flat out wrong and beneath the intelligence of the board.

TPP has not come to the floor yet and therefore no vote has been taken despite postings to the contrary. Cruz has already made statements in opposition to TPP.

Hussein is not worthy of TPA.

There is no rush to do this before he is forced out of office. Should some other 'Rat or GOPeer win in 2016, they wouldn't deserve the continuing authority in the legislation either.
