Poll: No, Americans don’t think it’s “too easy” to buy a gun

Liberal politicians clearly aren’t getting the message, but according to a new CNN/ORC poll the American public is. The fact is that we’ve already made it increasingly complicated, expensive and difficult for law abiding citizens to purchase a gun. Additional efforts to further restrict gun ownership aren’t going to discourage criminals, but they will affect those who choose to obey the law. And now that seems to be close to the prevailing opinion in the country. (Washington Free Beacon)

45 minutes of paperwork and wait for the phoned in background check to pass, only to then complete the paperwork then checkout. That’s CT with a long gun certificate (illegal infringing 2013 law)

Somebody should ask Mr. Weatherbee the socialist why his home state of Vermont has been one of the least violent places in the Western world and has among the most casual set of firearms laws in North America, when according to the logic of the Brady Center or the Coalition for Gun Control (Canada), it should be well above Chicago or DC for violent crime levels.

I simply don’t recognize the authority of government to regulate firearms. The 2nd Amendment takes precedent for me.

If I want a gun, I’ll buy it from a 3rd party and the government can kiss my behind if it thinks I am going to notify them about my private business.

It’s not easy to buy a gun. You are investigated like a criminal, while illegal aliens are welcomed by the same government.

I think the government should issue weapons to citizens with a clean record, and subsidize our practice ammunition. Public schools should teach basic infantry tactics too. Nobody should be given a diploma or degree without being able to explain the founders rationale for the Second Amendment. Just sayin’

Very good point. It makes me think of one of the left’s canards concerning gun control is how the Second Amendment refers only to the National Guard or some other formally organized militia. Well then, given that, all law abiding citizens can and should be trained in the use of arms from an early age.

“A militia when properly formed are in fact the people themselves…and include, according to the past and general usage of the states, all men capable of bearing arms… “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”
- Richard Henry Lee, Federal Farmer No. 18, January 25, 1788

“I ask who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.”
- George Mason, Address to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 4, 1788

With every passing day, I have increasingly grave concerns about "the whole people." I hope I'm wrong.

You think it is hard to buy a firearm, try going to the sporting goods shop or walmart and asking for just one bullet.

They force a whole box on you when all you need is one.

Why would you need just one bullet, more is always better.
Kind of like potato chips.
