Breitbart.com ^ | September 23, 2015 | Jeff Poor

Tuesday on “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) weighed in on Pope Francis’ views on economics, including his less-than-flattering remarks about capitalism as Francis is paying a visit to the United States. According to Rubio, Francis is infallible on theological matters, but that does not include economic issues, to which the Pope is speaking.

Rubio is a little late - Christie already made that very same point.

DUH.

Too bad Rubios liberalism extends to his republican voting.

Pope is not infallible on any matter.

Try convincing some of our fellow freepers about this concept - some just refuse to get it!

Exactly.

Popes can mistakes on religious matters as well.

The doctrine of papal infallibility was introduced rather late in Church history. In the mid to late 1800s by Pope Pius IX, a rather authoritarian pope who didn’t like anyone questioning his policies.

If the Pope uses the formula to make an Infallible statement, I am not aware anything saying it is limited. Popes have in the past been VERY political, to the point of condemning entire nations for what their rulers have done.

Well said, Marco.

And the pope’s “infallibility” only extends to his followers anyway.

I am so sick of these questions that GOP candidates get. BS like “If you are Catholic, why don’t you agree with the Pope on Capitalism and Climate Change?” or “Do you think Barak Obama is a Christian?” Its all such BS. GOP candidates should not engage on these questions. Call them BS and move on.

“According to Rubio, Francis is infallible on theological matters,”

And Rubio wants to run the country? Francis is as “infallible” as Jim Jones, David Koresh, Mary Baker Glover Patterson Eddy, and Oz’s Man Behind The Curtain. Personally, I’d prefer someone who believes the Bible. But that’s just me.

It’s because as the Roman Catholic Church is concerned, this is 100% correct.

Rubio had a much better response than Cruz’s kissing up.

You might add yourself to that list.

1. The Pope is a human.

2. Humans are fallible.

3. The Pope, therefore, is fallible; politically or otherwise.

Nice try, Rube.

Now go away.
