Top GOP official seeks McConnell ouster as Senate leader ‘GOP brand is being damaged,’
The Washington Times ^ | 09/28/15 | Ralph Z. Hallow

With John Boehner now departing as House speaker, an influential Republican Party official is now seeking the ouster of another GOP leader who has frustrated conservatives: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“McConnell needs to resign!!” Louisiana GOP Chairman Roger Villere wrote in a Facebook posting.

Mr. Villere isn’t just any Republican. He’s the longest-serving state GOP chairman in the nation, with 12 years on the job, and is the vice chairman of the Republican National Committee, the GOP’s national governing body. He also serves on the RNC’s executive committee that makes decisions alongside Chairman Reince Priebus.

“Mitch is a good and honorable guy, but the base is leaving our party,” Mr. Villere said in an interview with The Washington Times. “I’m out in the field all the time and we have all our elections this year for state offices, and it’s hurting us tremendously with our elections.”

Aides for Mr. McConnell, Kentucky Republican, did not return repeated calls and emails seeking comment. A spokeswoman for Mr. Priebus said he was unavailable Sunday.

Egged on by irate rank-and-file GOP voters, a conservative rump group in the House GOP caucus forced Mr. Boehner’s sudden announcement on Friday that he will resign his post and his House seat as well next month.

An ideological irony is that his probable replacement, California Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the current House majority leader, is closer politically to Mr. Boehner than to the more ideologically passionate members who were prepared to call for a no-confidence vote on Mr. Boehner as speaker.

The same may hold true for Mr. McConnell in the Senate. Though he is not considered likely to resign, there is no one in his chamber whom conservatives seem ready to unite behind as an alternative.

Without a doubt McConnell is a collaborator that is with the Establishment and against the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

It’s time for the GOPe to wake up and smell the roses. Trump’s agenda is what Red State Republicans and Conservatives hoped for in 2010 and 2014 only to be betrayed by Boehner and McConnell. The party has been Democrat Party Lite under those two “leaders” (soetoro’s Useful Idiots).

Priebus is always unavailable.

He might be standing there, but he's unavailable.

This is how things must happen in order to strengthen America. The individual states must devolve power back from the federal government. The States and the people reserve all such powers not delegated to the feds by the constitution and we must reclaim them! Who will be the next state chairman to step up?

McConnell should be replaced by Mike Lee and Boehner should be replaced by Dave Brat.

Amen....we should settle for no less than the strongest conservative leaders.

Brat deserves to move up after kicking the butt of Eric Cantor.

The showboating Cantor looked like was glued to Boehner during those press walks in the halls of Congress. He deliberately snubbed the Tea Party, refused to talk to conservative constituents.....and stupidly thought this was a winning strategy.

Brat is also a "New Wave Republican".....not a seasoned Me-First politician.

Louie Gohmert should also be in the mix.....the Texan eviscerated Obama's henchman at an immigration hearing. USCIS's Leon Rodriguez sat there w/ egg on his face....never even knew what happened to him at the hands of Gohmert (a former judge).

I can’t argue against ousting Boehner and McConnell, they have been the weakest congressional leaders I have ever seen. McConnell is so weak that Harry Reid still runs the Senate. That said, I have no confidence their replacements might be any better. The House is already talking about McCarthy. They always go with next in line, not best in line. McCarthy may be less conservative than Boehner.

McConnell and Boehner should be cell mates in prison. As of Boehner’s announcement our DEBT ENSLAVEMENT was at approximately 18 trillion 400 billion 959 million…(here’s where it’s at now)...

McConman is a proven liar and collaborator with the obama regime.

He is in fact a premium member of the progressive liberal democrat/rino communist uni-party, time to take out all the trash the stench is overwhelming and unbearable.

If McWeasal resigns a majority leader that would be great but I contend the GOPE knows the jig is up with their current contingent of turds in charge and they will be more than willing to sacrifice Boner and McWeasal to placate the base for one more election cycle and deflect conservative anger.

I am all for both going to the house as they have been awful, but if they cut a deal funding the government through the 2016 election their replacements which will be GOPE trash will revert to form January 2017 and in between now and then will avoid any issue like the plague. Conservatives need to demand real conservatives in positions of power or continue to raise hell. As the star wars squid head put it so eloquently “its a trap!”
