Read the comments to today’s Washington Post article on this subject. The leftists could care less about the breach of ethics since they hate Chaffetz for giving the Planned Parenthood CEO a hard time.

At one time in this nation there were commonly held standards for ethics and people believed those violating laws and ethical rules should be punished no matter their race, creed, color, social status, or political affiliation. In today’s world we seem to adopt a standard that what was once considered unacceptable behavior is admirable if it is engaged in on behalf of the right cause.

A society and culture cannot survive if every behavior is politicized and there are no moral or ethical absolutes.

Aren’t the Assistant Directors of the Secret Service “political” appointees?

There still are commonly held standards in America, but not among the anti-America left - which is represented by the current administration.

“This imbecile put that in writing in an email?”

I found the stupidity displayed by people who are supposed to be our best and brightest to be simply amazing - for example, looking up his info WHILE THE HEARING WAS ONGOING. Didn’t they think that the queries into the database were recorded (login id, time, subject) and audited?

If this is the best that we have, then we are in much more trouble than even I thought.

Between you, me and everyone here. I don’t think we have the best and brightest, either elected, appointed or hired working in our government. The best and brightest are too busy inventing and improving things in the civilian sector.

The president has put in place an organization that contains the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That's going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual in ways that it's never been done before.

So far have not seen anything to actually blackmail him with. Lots of people aply for jobs with the Secret Service. Most get rejected and that is a good thing. I suspect Chaffetz has applied for many other jobs also and he did not get them all. So Where’s the Beef here.

““Got BQA from the Service in 2003.” Within the Secret Service, “BQA” is an acronym meaning that a “better qualified applicant” was available.”

This is the best info I have found. Does not make him a bad person.
