What is the gun show loophole? I am serious. I’ve been hearing this from the democrats for years now and no one has really defined it.
I know here in Pennsylvania, you must go through a background check for any transaction involving a gun. I even bought a 22 rifle from a friend and we took it to a gun shop to have them fill out the paperwork.
Anybody who does not do this is not within the existing laws. The people not doing this will not obey any law you pass.

In libtard logic, it means that background checks aren’t required at gun shows.
In the real world, background checks are required each and every time you buy from a licensed dealer...including at gun shows. They may or may not be necessary for private individuals selling to other private individuals depending on state law and regardless of venue.
Sales between two private individuals, not having a Federal License to sell guns, does not have a federal requirement to to have a background check.
In Pennsylvania, handguns require the background check, rifles and shotguns do not.

It is a scary sounding phrase they spew. It is related to individuals, not dealers, who buy space for a booth at a gun show. Here in GA, there is no NICS check or form required for a private sale between individuals, whether at a gun show or McDonalds parking lot. Buying from a licensed dealer at a gun show requires NICS check and form.
It's actually a political slogan, a shibboleth, not anything practical or substantial.
Politically, it's Step One on the Socialists' yellow brick road to a total ban on private ownership of any sort of firearm (w/ exceptions for politically-connected people and State creatures).
Socialism's fundamental idea is that the State is the absolute master and owner of everyone who lives within its reach. The subjects must never dissent (and live), they must never own means of resistance. This has been true of every form of socialism going back 100+ years.
That's what the debate is about: superimposing Socialism on the Constitution and the ideas the Founders bequeathed us.
It's private sales WITH NO PAPER TRAIL. And that's the real issue.
The term “close the gun show loophole” is just smoke and mirrors to hide what the gun grabbers are really up to. The real goal is to eliminate all undocumentated private individual to individual sales, gifting, inheritances, etc, by forcing as these types of transfers of ownership through FFL holders thereby eventually a federal registery of all private guns would be developed thus making a door to door confiscation possible.
