The momentum that has pushed Carly Fiorina to second place among Republican presidential candidates was evident in Lancaster County Thursday night.
About 200 midstate voters attended a private fundraiser hosted by Ron and Hollee Kreider at their countryside estate in Manheim Township, where the price tag was $1,000 per couple or $5,000 to be on the host committee.
-snip-
Of special interest to Lancaster voters is her stance on immigration. Many farmers in the midstate rely on migrant labor. One farmer in the audience asked her how she would handle immigration.
"(The farmer) said, 'We could put ads in the paper all day long, but we're not going to get Americans to do those jobs. The migrant workers are reliable,'" Womble said.
Fiorina said the immigration system is broken, and there needs to be a fair process for legal immigration for farm labor and other jobs, according to Womble and other sources.
"She said we've been talking about fixing immigration for 30 years, and now we finally have to do it," Womble said.
Fiorina has often talked about establishing a secure border while providing a path for legal immigration.
That differs from GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, who said he would build a wall to keep immigrants out.

Beware the RINO. Fiorina is no conservative.
Yawn. Fiorina is last week’s news. Rubio is this week’s Great White Hope.
LOL now they are trying to ell us Snarly is in second place.
“Fiorina has often talked about establishing a secure border while providing a path for legal immigration.”
We already have a path for legal immigration, always have had a path for legal immigration. Presently, it is not enforced. The path she is referring to is amnesty.
Who’s Fiorina??
“...we’re not going to get Americans to do those [farm] jobs...”
My nephew loves farm or ranch work. He has been looking for two years with no luck.
Wobble should go to the border or just go see Sicario to see what else these “immigrants”/illegal aliens are bringing to America. We have places in the US where we as citizens are not safe to go. I know someone will mention the savages in Chicago or Baltimore but we can only successfully deal with one group at a time. Carly is an elitist as is Womble who thinks no one will dare harm them.
Plenty of people to take decent farming jobs at decent wages.
No sympathy here for those unwilling to craft decent jobs and pay what the market demands.
How about cutting off SNAP benefits to some of our 94 million countrymen lying around on the couch watching daytime television and offer THEM the jobs?
Funny how they left out the word "ILLEGAL" re: keeping out "immigrants".
Ugh. She needs to go. I’m so sick of her.
Fiorina is vying for all those corporate bucks that would've gone to Yeb if things had gone according to plan.
The trick of course will be convincing them as president she'll throw the borders open even wider than they are now and still get the grassroots, who are considerably wiser to this BS than they were four years ago, to vote for her.
That last sentence is as big a lie as saying that Trump says, “The American dream is dead...” and omitting the rest...”but I’m going to make it bigger and better.”
Trump DID say he’s going to build a wall, and keep out anyone who doesn’t come in LEGALLY. Big difference. But these “reporters” are like an egg-sucking, or a car-chasing dog. They’re liars! And you can’t break them of it. They’ll do it until they die. And after that, The Final Judgment.
BINGO !!!! WE GOT BINGO !!!!!
In other words, "We want to pay Mexico-level wages and have folks work under Mexico-standard conditions, and we don't want to invest in automation."
Start enforcing existing immigration law fairly and evenly. Fine, arrest and perp-walk illegal-alien traffickers like this farmer - and the "broken" immigration system might not be so broken after all.
Wage costs would necessarily rise as employers seek legal employees, but automation efforts would check some of that increase. The increased costs passed to consumers would be checked, too, as employers, like this farmer, transfer fewer employee expenses onto the public dole, in the form of all the public benefits and programs (and law enforcement costs) going to their precious illegal aliens.
In the end, our lettuce might end up costing more, but our property taxes, sales taxes, and state and federal income taxes would be less burdened by subsidies to illegal alien lettuce pickers.
Did she see all the Syrians that Obama dumped there?
