Report: Gulf States to Purchase Israel's Iron Dome System
HAARETZ ^ | Oct 14, 2015

Several Gulf nations are currently in negotiations to purchase the Israeli-made Iron Dome missile defense system, Sky News reported on Tuesday.

The report said that member nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council want to defend themselves against a growing "Iranian arsenal of missiles."

A senior Gulf government official was quoted as saying that "If Netanyahu were not making less of a mess of things and was more like [Egypt's] Anwar Sadat, then we would be happy to buy the missiles straight from Israel."

The official was apparently referring to is the Gulf states' intention to buy the systems through American contractors who co-developed them, rather than directly from Israel.

The report also quotes Bahrain's Foreign Minister Khalid bin Mohammed al Khalifa, who said during a visit to London that "The Israelis have their small Iron Dome. We'll have a much bigger one in the GCC." The GCC includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.

You know, I think a basic requirement for them to get the system should be to effortlessly interact with Israel. Otherwise me might need to shoot missiles at you in the future.

How absurd!

The Gulf states are part of the reason there is no end to the Israeli-Arab conflict.

For the last 20 years or so (since the Oslo [peace] War Accords) it has become very fashionable to call this conflict the “Palestinian-Israeli conflict” , which it is not.

The ARABS do not want peace with Israel and Egypt and Jordan are the exception, not the rule.

So long as the Arab League and a myriad of other Arab states & groups continue to hate Israel and fund terrorists, the conflict will continue.

In reality, the Arab-Israeli conflict goes on due to the Arabs’ inability to grow up, mature, and take realistic and rational choices.

Uh, apparently they are too busy killing each other to take the time out to reassess their Israeli hate.

Note how commentators always call this the Palestinian-Israeli conflict instead of what it is.

To sell Arab states this missile system is plain foolish, on the other hand, if it is part of a secret alliance now building between the Gulf States, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and other to eventually attack Iran...now that is another ballgame.

Great analysis. Agree with all of it.

But one question. Didnt we put money and technology into the Iron Dome?

Do we get a cut of the profits? :)

A serious misjudge ment by Netanyahu. The Gulf States are every bit as evil as the Saudis.

It’s in the article- they want to buy the system through the American contractors who co-developed it.

The US funded I think at least 50% (if not more) of the Iron Dome program which basically includes indigenous Israeli technologies.
The US (even under President Ovomit) has funded the Arrow antimissile missile, the Pine Tree Radar and other advanced Israeli systems.

The US gets a MAJOR return on it's investments from Israel because, unfortunately, within a short time of their development the systems are tested in wars and then can get the title, “battle tested”.

I’m not too surprised by this, the Gulf States, the Saudis and so on have been active in Syria fighting Iran and during the Syrian Civil War there have been a few Israeli airstrikes, enough for Putin to criticize in a recent interview.

They GCC, Saudis and Israel have a common enemy, Iran.

Politicians in this country like John McCain and Lindsey Graham, who get money from supporters of Israel, also have been in the forefront of pushing the overthrow of Assad and support for the Saudi-Gulf Arab backed forces.

But unfortunately the Islamic State was created out of all this mess.

Bibi Netanyahu works with established politicians, governments, political parties etc.

In that vein, Netanyahu met with Senate RINO Majority Leader Mitch McConnell several days ago in Israel.

With all that in mind, how tough can Bibi be with Israel’s enemies even now in the midst of the terrorist wave washing over the country.

Education Minister Naftali Bennett of the Jewish Homeland Party thinks tougher measures need to be taken against the terrorists than Netanyahu has taken so far.

Perception that Netanyahu is some sort of tough guy and a good conservative like Ted Cruz is a false perception.

I see Netanyahu as more of a John McCain-Mitch McConnell type of leader. Which means dealing with Arab nations involving weapons to defend from Iran and alliances with the Jordanians, Gulf Arabs, Saudis along with the Neocons and GOPe (McCain-Graham etc.) in the United States.

My sense is that this alliance has definitely been in force during the Syrian demonstrations that turned into a rebellion and civil war. Was it working in the other “Arab Spring” scenarios of recent years? In the rebellious street demonstrations in Iran in 2009? In Ukraine’s street demonstration rebellion in 2014?

The Iron Dome system is an antimissile missile designed for short range intercepts. It directly hits and detonates on the incoming HAMAS Kassam (or larger Russian variants) warhead.

Faster, higher altitude missiles like ICBMs are to be intercepted by the Israeli “Arrow” missile, antimissile. If the Iranians launch an ICBM (they just tested one two days ago, which Pres. Ovomit is ignoring) at Israel, hopefully the Arrow, TAHDS and other missiles will intercept them over Syria, Iraq, Jordan or over the Mediterranean sea.
One would hope that the Israelis could cause a detonation over an Arab country BEFORE it gets close to Israel thus creating what the Muslims love more than anything else in the world - Martyrs.

Thanks :)

would that detonation ALWAYS be a nuclear explosion or could it sometimes just explode with the nuke part or just break apart.

stupid questions but i know nothing of this stuff.

Not sure. We can only pray that at the moment of launch, the nuclear warhead falls off the rocket, detonates and eliminates Iran...

That would be great :)

Sadly, I actually think the young generation wants no part of this sharia nonsense.

if we had a real president like Reagan, that revolution 4 years ago might have been the dawn of a new age.

I HATE obama. I HATE jarrett, that muslim traitor. I pity kerry for being so naive and dumb.

It would most likely break apart the incoming warhead. There would still be fragments of fissile material either scattered about or burned up on reentry. Thus some degree of contamination.
