My answer is the incarnation of the modern left as you and I know it today is a direct result of the assassination of John F. Kennedy...I was in graduate school during the Cuban missile crisis - I remember a small army of fellow students marching around campus one night corralling everyone they could find to sign a petition supporting Kennedy in his stand against the Russians even if it meant out and out war - a few years later these same people likely would have been peddling petitions to get us out of Vietnam - under the young, wonderful, appealing Kennedy lib types were ready and willing to "go anywhere, pay any price" in the pursuit of liberty, or whatever it was - but once he was assassinated, Vietnam became the war of that ugly old, uncouth and certainly not cool Johnson and it was all downhill ever since - libs are perpetual ninth graders, looking to be entertained, amused, and awed instead of governed.....

One thing says it all and lays it out. Four weeks after the assassination, President Truman had this OpEd published in the Washington Post.

If you go to the 6th Floor Exhibit, you can stand in a window right next to where LHO was. (Where he was is walled off with glass and has boxes like it was that day) The shot was going straight away (like shooting Trap)

When Oswald lived in Minsk he was expected to actually work for a living. That turned him off from the USSR in addition to the chronic shortages of almost every type of consumer goods. The USSR’s operatives could see that Oswald was an ingrate, a brat, and an unguided missile.

Of course even Oswald could make those shots at those easy distances of less than 75 yards.

So the Left had the problem that a Leftist zip wad killed Kennedy so the Left created these idiotic theories that now half of FR suckles from.
