Gallup released a series of poll on the Second Amendment and found some interesting things. First, as Cortney wrote earlier today, a candidates stance on gun rights is an important issue to almost one-in-four voters. Yet, 55 percent are in favor of stricter gun laws, which are primarily being driven by more Democrats and Independents leaning towards curtailing Second Amendment rights. At the same time, the polling company noted that this issue fluctuates between support for more and less gun control:

One strike and you’re out.
Twelve percent favor one day a year as open season (no tag limit) on pollsters and members of the fifth-column media.
It is unconstitutional for the government to “curtail” Second Amendment rights. “Curtail” is just the Democrat way of saying “infringed”.
So nothing to indicate the poll questions were less than objective here then, right?
Example: Should you always obey traffic signals when the light is red?
Should drivers always be ticketed for intentionally running a red light?
Should a driver be ticketed for running a red light if they were trying to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle?
Results: Most Americans think it is ok to run a red light sometimes.
Exactly.
The curtailing of ANY inalienable, Constitutional right should never be “allowed” by anyone.
Anyone who doesn’t like the Second Amendment should move to another country without a constitution.
Oh, yeah. Like they give two craps about ‘constitutional’. Pretty durn sad what we’ve let this country devolve into. But in other news, I hear the kardouchians are doing just swell. And you didn’t think there was a bright light ahead. :>}
If you ran a poll saying, “Do you want to ban assault weapons?,” and you ran another poll asking “Do you want to ban semi-automatic rifles?,” you would get two vastly different results.
Every other "gun law" is unconstitutional; even if 99.9% of the population wants "gun control", the Congress lacks the legitimate authority to even consider such legislation.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed, unless a Gallup poll of liberals says otherwise.
55 + 56 = 111 ?????
I actually feel that Americans should band together and sue every politician including Obama and Hillery who are attempting to curtail gun rights. Their attempts are contradicting their sworn pledge to protect and defend the Constitution. They are making an open attack on the Constitution and should be found guilty of TREASON! Same goes for any politician who surrenders our Sovereignty to the UN or any country on any subject whatsoever.
III percent say Come and Take It.
There is some overlap, obviously. A person may want easier concealed carry, and tighter regulations on transfers or storage, etc.
Please note that the *actual* question Gallup used is a “compound” question, which may considerably obfuscate the poll results:
“Suppose more Americans were allowed to carry concealed weapons if they passed a criminal background check and training course. If more Americans carried concealed weapons, would the the United States be safer or less safe?”
Oct 7-11, 2015 Safer 56% Less safe 41% No opinion 3%
Now let’s subdivide Gallup’s question into its parts.
1) Suppose more Americans were allowed to carry concealed weapons, would the United States be safer or less safe?
2) (Should Americans be required to pass) a criminal background check to carry concealed weapons?
3) (Should Americans be required to pass) a training course to carry concealed weapons?
The second and third questions are more important, because increasing numbers of states require neither licenses nor training courses. Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Wyoming and Vermont don’t require a permit at all for concealed carry in public. Vermont has never had such a requirement. About 18 states are looking at permitless carry laws this year, depending on how you count.
Added up, that is about *half* the US states. Importantly, background checks are already the federal law, except for private sales, and family and friend transfers, so they are not at issue, except for gun control nuts. But why include *universal* background checks and “training” in their poll? These are not legitimate parts of a compound question, and instead are “issue advocacy”.
Since background checks are done at time of purchase, they apply to ALL guns, whether they are ‘not publicly carried’, open carry, or concealed carry. Nobody informs the gun dealer which of these purposes they intend to use their gun for.
So with this question, Gallup is advocating for both universal background checks (”to close the ‘gun show loophole’” of private sales and transfers), and *also* that states should require training. How “fair” and “unbiased” of them.
Conditions are almost right for a full-scale bloody civil war. One thrust of the government toward confiscation will be enough to begin the bloodshed, I think.
Simple. People think gun control, in theory, is a rational idea. One Democrats start actually laying out their gun control policies, most people say “ you nuts” to Democrats.
The problem with this push poll is they aren’t defining Gun Control.
It doesn’t matter squat what ‘the people’ ‘want.’
The Second Amendment trumps all such bullsh*t
“It doesnt matter squat what the people want.
The Second Amendment trumps all such bullsh*t”
Don’t forget the Tenth Amendment. “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, OR TO THE PEOPLE”. The term “people” has always been defined as the individual or individual rights in our Constitution. The States along with the US Government should have NO right to pass laws regarding firearms. It is the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed.
