Benjamin Netanyahu: Palestinian Mufti Gave Hitler Idea to Exterminate Jews

by Cassandra Vinograd, Yael Factor and Reuters

Israel's prime minister suggested that a Palestinian gave Adolf Hitler the idea to exterminate Jews in the Holocaust, drawing rebukes from historians and politicians.

In a speech to Jewish leaders on Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu that the Mufti of Jerusalem in the World War II era — Haj Amin al-Husseini — had a "central role" in inspiring Hitler's Final Solution to make Jews extinct.

"He flew to Berlin. Hitler didn't want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews," Netanyahu said. According to Netanyahu, Hitler asked the mufti what he should do.

"He said, 'Burn them,'" Netanyahu told the gathering.

Netanyahu — the son of a historian — previously has described the Mufti as a "leading architect" of Hitler's Final Solution, according to Haaretz.

This is the truth! And the Germans have always had a soft spot for the Sunni Muslims as noted by Akbar Ahmed, the Chair of Islamic Studies at American University in an article he wrote:

Why Merkel's Kindness to Asylum Seekers Could Reflect a German Soft Spot for Islam

Adolf Hitler: 1889-1945

Some no doubt will enquire about the position of that most monstrous and evil of men who murdered millions of people and almost destroyed Germany, Adolf Hitler, regarding the soft spot theory. In his case, we can also see evidence of the theory. Hitler voiced his admiration for Kemal Atatürk whom he called "a star in the darkness" and "the greatest man of the century." Hitler fancied himself, like Atatürk , a brilliant military general and a successful nation builder. Like Atatürk had done with Turkey, Hitler dreamt of forging Germany into a state based on a dominant ethnic group. Hitler even speculated about the possible consequences in history if Charles Martel had not stopped the Arabs at Tours, France, in 732 AD. The Germans, he then ruminated, may well have converted to Islam and "would have conquered the world." During World War II, Nazi radio broadcasts to Muslims cast the English and the Jews as "the common enemies of the Arab-Muslim world and of Germany" and popular songs honoring "Hajj Hitler" were composed in both rural and urban areas in North Africa. Hitler counted among his allies Haj Amin al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, and Hitler presented the blonde and blue-eyed mufti with a certificate declaring him an "honorary Aryan." But the Hitlerian contempt for non-Aryan peoples was difficult to suppress as Hitler is on record referring to Arabs as "half-monkeys." (My own words - Hitler admired jihadist Islam not ethnic Arabs - the article gives many other examples of Germans throughout history being pro Muslim or admiring Islam).

So bottom line: Its not Hitler’s fault. Just like another leftist; constantly shifting the blame to everyone else except themselves.

Not in the least, and Bibi could NEVER be mistaken for someone on the left. His underlying crux appears to be that it was Islam that planted the extermination seed in Hitlers brain. Whether actually what Hitler wanted at the time is up for debate. Since I have never read Mein Kampf, I could not speak for der Fuhrer. I personally do not believe he would have had much sympathy with the German Volk if he had espoused mass murder from the outset.

Give credit also to the Ottoman Empire - an Islamic Caliphate - for his historical inspiration:
"Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?"

The German military was present throughout Turkey, during the Ottoman (Muslim) Turks' "final solution" for the Armenians. To their credit, many spoke out against it. But the fact that Turkey got away with it could not escape the notice of those who did not disapprove.

This was a mere 18 years before Hitler came to power and appointed Adolf Eichmann head of the Nazi department responsible for Jewish affairs.

Years ago there was a series on TV, THE WORLD AT WAR about WW II.
In the 1980s they added several new episodes in which it was claimed Hitler wanted to expel the Jews to Madagascar, but was blocked because England still controlled the Suez Canal.

So then came the ideas of gas chambers and ovens.

Uh, perhaps you ought to first READ the story, and then actually think before you post?

First, Bibi is no Leftist, not by a long shot. If you think so, then you really are beyond help.

Second, and more importantly, what Bibi is saying is that the Grand Mufti (who, maybe not so coincidentally, was Arafag's uncle) planted the seed of genocide into the very fertile soil of Hitler's mind. The Mufti didn't order anything, didn't devote vast resources to it at the expense of Germany's war effort, i.e. he DIDN'T perpetrate the genocide - Hitler did it. Hitler could easily have just made slaves of the Jews and had them work in his armaments factories, or farming food, all in order to further the German war effort...but HE didn't, HE - HITLER - chose to perpetrate a monstrous genocide. The Mufti was complicit, and I hope that he will continue to pay for that and his other crimes for the rest of eternity, but Hitler did this.

How you come to any other conclusion about what Netanyahu is saying is beyond me.

Actually the concentration camps came about because of the problem of what to do with the bodies. The Nazis were already exterminating Jews; the camps industrialized the process.

It’s true that Hitler and the Grand Mufti were best buds and shared a hatred for Jews. But I think Hitler was determined to wipe them out long before they ever met.

Agree. To believe this you have to ignore Mein Kampf and the tens of thousands of Jews Hitler killed before his meeting with the Mufti.

Incredible, all my life I’ve despised Hitler. But apparently he was a pretty reasonable guy who got caught in a Palestinian’s evil web. Who knew?

The left wants to defend Muslims even though Islam is anti-leftist. See the fawning over that fake bomb making Muslim who was trying to pretend he invented a clock.
