With this announcement representative Paul Ryan is openly announcing his intention to destroy the conservative elements within the republican party. And yet again, its doubtful anyone will try to stop him.
The president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Tom Donohue, recently announced his intentions to eliminate opposition to their progressive big government positions and destroy fiscal conservatives (Tea Party).
Tom Donohue demands: ♦ approval of the TPP trade deal, ♦ continuation of ObamaCare, ♦ comprehensive immigration reform to include amnesty, and ♦ federal education Common Core education standards.
Previously we explained how deep the tentacles of the CoC reach within the Republican party – SEE HERE.
Now today, to put the cherry on the cake, Paul Ryan announces he will appoint Chamber of Commerce Lobbyist David Hoppe as his Chief of Staff as Speaker of the House.
WASHINGTON DC – As he builds support for his bid for speaker of the House, Republican Rep. Paul Ryan has announced he will name as his top aide a longtime corporate lobbyist whose past clients have significant business before Congress.
The Washington Post reported if he wins the speaker’s job, Ryan will name as his chief of staff registered lobbyist David Hoppe, a former aide to Sens. Trent Lott and John Kyl. The announcement comes a decade after congressional Republicans’ so-called K Street Project, which sought to bring lobbyists closer to the Republican policymaking machine, resulted in federal indictments.
Federal records show since 2010, Hoppe has lobbied for major financial industry interests such as insurance giant MetLife, the National Venture Capital Association and Zurich Financial Services. He has also lobbied for investment firm BlackRock, which could be affected by efforts to change federal financial regulations and which could benefit from a recent proposal to shift military pension money into a federal savings plan managed in part by the Wall Street giant. And Hoppe has lobbied for Cayman Finance, whose business “promot[ing] the development of the Cayman Islands financial services industry” could be affected by legislation to crack down on offshore tax havens. I wonder how well the GOP will do if the evil conservatives start their own party.
Probably both do about 25 percent each. The Democrats would love it.
“Once the illegals here get blanket amnesty, how could Trump fix that?”
As of yet, no comprehensive immigration bill has been put forward that offers blanket amnesty. The Congressmen would be reluctant to face the kind of voter wrath such a bill would provoke.
Even the Gang of Eight bill parceled it out over some years.
Many of the chambers have government advocacy arms that are suppose to advocate for businesses. You can not support these groups that are supporting not little business, but the interests of large corporations. I feel people need to quit the chamber in their perspective communities.
I agree. Many in big business have turned against this country even occasionally when they lose income.
[the politicians prefer an us against them]
Did you mean this as one word or two? 4th and 5th ones.
And now the real truth is exposed.....too bad one of those conservatives who were so busy trying to get Johnny Bonehead ousted didn’t have the cojones to run for speaker.
A pox on them all
The pitching of Boehner out was just more Kabuki theater meant to cool down/pacify/fool grass root conservatives who were building a little momentum concerning congress and replace him with "ringer" Ryan.
We ain't really won crap if Ryan becomes speaker.
The "game" is well rigged against us and too few see it.
My gut feeling from the get-go was that we could not trust this guy!
To top that off, the CoC has already said they’d work against any conservative that won the party’s WH nomination. I think the GOPe is declaring war on we conservatives and it’s time that we realized that we are NOT going to change the party from within.
We could try primarying him out, but failing that, we could go for an opponent in the general. Particularly if we could dig up some dirt on him.
Hoodwinked?
They know exactly what they are getting with Paul.
That's the first thing they will do and I'm sure they will do their best to keep it from being reversible...
Whatever strong numbers he HAD, he has not sustained. We have gotten to know him better since then.
W ruined the GOP. Now money trumps principle. In the end, money will fall with principle. It is an unsustainable priority. That power grab structure has a short expiration date. It lasts only as long as the voters stay fooled. That is unless a majority of the voters get a piece of the financial benefit, as they do on the democrat side.
The democrats have successfully bribed the voters with their own money (or more accurately, other people’s money). They have a two-fold system:
1. Offer more benefits than personal costs.
2. Scare them into thinking the opposition is out to get them.
Republicans, on the other hand, have their money grabbing, power-grabbing structure in fewer hands. So they can never succeed long term at this deplorable structure, unlike the democrats.
The Chamber of Commerce is the Establishment.
I am beginning to notice the signs of future betrayal faster than I used to. Beware of those who try to be on both sides at once. Of course that should be obvious, but it is not always unless we stay vigilante and demand better.
Character still matters. Trump is strong because voters are tired of being lied to. They will tolerate bluntness because it is a refreshing change from the long line of liars and scammers with whom we have been cursed.
The time to make a stand for these fake conservatives is now.
It’s always the next election, the next fight for them.
The GOP hacks have the chance to make a stand now.
FK em all.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
Yep, the old root of all evil.
I’d put down some money to have some symbolic tar and feathers delivered, but who to deliver it to?
