https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside-the-park_home_run

Interesting site about inside the park HR's.

They show a total of 10 WS inside the park HR's before tonight.

Since FReepers know everything, I’m going to confidently state that tonight we witnessed the first inside-the-park home run on the first pitch to one of the opposing teams in a World Series. Pretty cool thing to see. Baseball is all about cool events and stats like that. Thanks, everybody.

Thanks! Checking to see if one of them was on the very first pitch to one of the teams.

They switched the Saints-Colts game off the network Sunday and never resumed it when it got close.

Yeah, couldn't believe that sh*t. When they switched to the other it was Saints 27, Colts 0. It ended up Saints 27, Colts 21, with a failed onside kick attempt by the Colts with a minute or two left in the game.

They said it was the first lead off inside the park HR in a world series game since 1903.

They list 9 WS inside the park HRs before tonight's.

They had added tonight's to the list by the time I counted them.

That guy ran fast to run out the inside-the-park-home-run.

<>Does anybody else notice the fans in the front row looking at their smart phones? They are at Game 1 of the World Series! Why don’t they put their phone down for an hour or so and watch the game?

Okay, that narrows it down! I wonder if that one was the very first pitch, though (I know, I know, but baseball freaks live for stats like that). Thanks!

Here’s some Met history for you. In 1969 in Mets first WS home game in game 3 Tommie Agee hits lead off HR. Then in 1973 Wayne Garrett did that and then in 1986 Lynn Dykstra did this.

Buck just sorta blamed it on the “wet night.” You’d think they’d have broadcasting a World Series down to where a “wet night” doesn’t interrupt your coverage.

Now a major earthquake ... That one was understandable!
