House lawmakers in both parties joined forces Wednesday to pass a sweeping budget deal that marks both a parting victory for outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and a valedictory gift for his likely replacement, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).

The final vote was 266 to 167, with 79 Republicans joining every Democrat in sealing passage. Ryan was among the supporters.

Good point. A country is its people.

Americans suck.

Who really believes that this party can be restored from within? Who really believes in the failed notion of “holding their feet to the fire?” Who really believes that electing more conservatives is the solution when a majority simply lie or are quickly infected by statists?

I’m quickly reaching the point that if you accept the brand of traitors (R), than I will treat you as such. This goes for the conservatives that I support as well. Show some bravery, form a coalition, and change parties en masse while in office to gain notoriety and attention.

I don’t have high expectations that this would even work or make a difference, but nothing is working now as well.

You are welcome to continue practicing your insanity and see where that gets you.

Some of us have moved past that, and are preparing for what we know is coming.

How many of the no votes voted that way because they knew it was a ‘safe’ vote? See what the order of modern politics has done, I can’t be certain of the motivations of nearly ANY Congressional member....and I’m not alone.

Well if our eyes are to be believed, most of this site for starters. Every time one of us reminds people that we have said for years we had to stop the madness and go third party, we get shouted at by crowds.

Now that it’s too late to do anything politically, suddenly lots of people wanna know why we didn’t do it.

Made my decision today and saying it three times is a charm ... never, ever voting again. Let ‘em get some other suckers but this old man is done.

SAME HERE only I made my decision after the 2014 election.

Pleasantly surprised that over 2/3 of House GOP voted against this; I’d feared worse. And all 3 from my Iowa voted against it, I’d expected to lose Young. Alas I’m stuck with the sole IA Rat rep, who always lives down to my expectations.

"If the majority of the people are too uninformed, lackadaisical, or apathetic to make the democratic process rational and effective, then they just reveal their inherent nature, according to this thinking. It is not an upper class that keeps the demos unenlightened, but it is the people's own disposition that makes them eschew enlightenment, and thus dependent on some sort of rulers. If people did not naturally have the disposition they display in a dysfunctional democracy, other people would not be able to exploit and mislead them the way they do. Ruling elites do not create popular ignorance and apathy, a defender of Plato might say, they only use it for their own purposes--in the same way in which a seller of dubious merchandise does not create lack of buyer discretion, but simply exploits that deficiency.

For Platonists, in short, the incompetence and victimization of the masses are a more or less permanent condition. The eventual education and emancipation of the demos envisioned by the Left is a baseless hope in their eyes. To a large extent they would agree with what the conservative scholar and journalist H. L. Mencken once wrote in a letter to the Socialist Upton Sinclair: "The longer I live, the more I am convinced that the common people are doomed to be diddled forever.” (11)

It all matters in the end. Especially vocally pushing back against people who brought us this madness.

As one who worked for the state of CA for 25 years, unless one’s job or office was under threat, any ‘vocal pushing back’ is either ignored or one might get a standardized response letter/card....maybe. I’ve seen/dealt with the ‘inside’, color me HIGHLY skeptical.

Dear people who screech at the people who stay home rather than vote for the lessor of two evils...Well, we went out and voted, and we delivered unprecedented gains in both the house and senate, and since that day We have all been betrayed every single day. I CHALLENGE all of you lessor of evil people to name one single item of Obama’s agenda that has at the very least been hobbled or slowed, much less slowed...NAME ONE!!! I am done, I am tired of being betrayed daily, and that is why I am going to vote for Trump, he is not worse than Obama, and every single person is at least worse than or equal to Obama with the tiniest exception of Cruz, but at this point, i don’t even trust him. Trump may end up being a total embarassment and bufoon, but if there is even the tiniest chance that he can shatter the old boy networks and blatant cronyism and the bureaucratic fiefdoms, and set the step number in the endless parade of incrmentalism back a few, then I think it is win win...jeez, take a really good hard look around
