How scary are your jack-o'-lanterns? Scarier than you think, according to the Energy Department, which claims the holiday squash is responsible for unleashing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Most of the 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins produced in the U.S. end up in the trash, says the Energy Department's website, becoming part of the "more than 254 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) produced in the United States every year."

They fart.

Pumpkin farts are terrible.

They just sit in the fields and let it rip...

Greenhouse gases and probably more Sulfer than a VW TDI

I recommend if you have a pumpkin that you immediately smash it

and beat up all the children who believe in the Great Pumpkin.

My granddaughter painted a pumpkin a couple weeks ago. It began to prematurely rot. I placed it outside out back on the concrete patio, intending to bury it later. Racoons got to it and left a small section with seeds. That went into the soil to grow for next year. It’s organic, why toss it in the garbage can when you can compost it?

Achtung: you peasants out there; we are watching you, and we see that you are having too much fun with the Halloween thing. Destroying the world with needless fun, hence we have decreed that there will be no more pumpkins on Halloween...
