No other candidate exhibits such depth of understanding of the Constitution's supreme power as "the People's" limitation on its government.
Such understanding was the underlying strength of Reagan's resolve. Reagan had studied the Framers' ideas, understood their reasoning for structuring such a constitutional People's "chain" (Jefferson) on elected and appointed individuals in government, in order to "bind them down from mischief" (again, Jefferson).
If America is to survive as a place of refuge for oppressed peoples, then it must have a leader who protects that Constitution from threats from within and without!
He was great.
With the exception of Jeb, I think they all did great.
He should capitalize on this momentum and take to Twitter (as Trump does) to address people directly. Trump has used Twitter to his maximal advantage this year like it or not it’s really starting to become the way to gin up support.
Cruz’s thwacking of the moderators was priceless. Keep it up, Ted.
Cruz has been smartly and patiently biding his time. He refused to jump on the MSM bandwagon early of bashing Trump. He’s continued to put out common-sense plans for taxes and management of the Federal Government.
I think he’s the most politically astute candidate out there.
DEBATE WINNER(s): Cruz, Trump, Carson, Rubio, Christie
DEBATE LOSER (s): CNBC mods, The media, Jeb Bush, Kasich, Hillary
DEBATE NON STARTERS: Huck, Paul, Carly
Most mentioned candidates on Twitter, with share of debate conversation:
Donald Trump: 22.19 percent
Ted Cruz: 14.49 percent
Ben Carson: 12.58 percent
Marco Rubio: 12.24 percent
Jeb Bush: 11.30 percent
Carly Fiorina: 7.13 percent
Chris Christie: 5.43 percent
John Kasich: 5.39 percent
Mike Huckabee: 5.07 percent
Rand Paul: 4.17 percent
He did pretty darn good, would make a very good addition to Trumps presidency.
I can picture Cruz going through an Apprentice season, he might lose one or two challenges but will be the best and last man standing for the job.
Or as a moderator insinuated to Trump this whole election process is as the same as his Apprentice series, except its Trump who may get hired, or fired.
But after watching those episodes for the most part the winner is almost always the fire in the spirit person, the most vocal, the gladiator.
And btw, i doubt there will be any further debates like this, i have a strong gut feeling all candidates, even the zero percenters are boycotting. They are getting better polls by standing up against the MSM by a HUGE margin. They are following of course the alpha male here, Trump.
-— The Texas senator scored the highest activity level - total number of views, shares, likes, and mentions a candidate receives on social media networks - for the night -—
Forget the online polls. This is a real measure of debate performance.
Not singling you out because everyone does it: conflating “activity (as defined as “total number of views, shares, likes”) with positive outcomes. Save for “likes”, the rest could as easily be motivated by “Get a load of this idiot!” as “I just found the guy I’m going to vote for”. Am I wrong?
If not, it sounds like Jeb did well on social media, with third-ranked “activity”.
Cruz wins.
