I’m surprised that some Western power doesn’t just go in an take over Saudi Arabia. It would be easier than defeating Saddam Hussein in the 1st Iraqi war.

No, it wouldn’t. When we invaded Iraq we were permitted to use Saudi Arabia as a staging area. What nation in the middle east would allow the U.S. - the only “Western power” with enough troops, planes and ships to EVER possibly win a war anywhere in the Middle East - to use it’s soil as a staging area???
