AP: Hundreds of officers lose licenses over sex misconduct
Associated Press ^ | November 1, 2015 | Norman Merchant

OKLAHOMA CITY — Flashing lights pierced the black of night, and the big white letters made clear it was the police. The woman pulled over was a daycare worker in her 50s headed home after playing dominoes with friends. She felt she had nothing to hide, so when the Oklahoma City officer accused her of erratic driving, she did as directed.

She would later tell a judge she was splayed outside the patrol car for a pat-down and then made to lift her shirt and pull down her pants to prove she wasn't hiding anything. She described being ordered to sit in the squad car as the officer towered over her. His gun in sight, she said she pleaded "No, sir" as he unzipped his fly and exposed himself to her with a hurried directive.

"Come on," the woman, identified in police reports as J.L., said she was told before she began giving the officer oral sex. "I don't have all night."

The accusations are undoubtedly jolting, and yet they reflect a betrayal of the badge that has been repeated across the country.

A yearlong investigation by The Associated Press has found about 1,000 officers who lost their licenses in a six-year period for rape, sodomy and other sexual assaults; sex crimes that included possession of child pornography; or sexual misconduct such as propositioning citizens or having on-duty intercourse.

The probe at once represents both the most complete examination of such wrongdoing and a sure undercount of the problem, limited by a patchwork of state laws. California and New York, for example, had no records because they have no statewide system for revoking the licenses of officers who commit misconduct. And even among states that provided information, some reported no officers removed for sexual misdeeds even though cases were discovered

Rape at gunpoint under color of law should be a capital offense.

I don’t seek to defend any officer who is breaking the law. Officers know the laws and clearly know when they chose to break them what the penalties are.

Now, thanks A. P.

As far as I know, A. P. hasn’t been able to find anything negative to report about the Black Lives Matter movement. It hasn’t been able to come down on the right side of many other issues.

Until then, I’ll read articles like this and scratch my head.

Why is it only okay to look at certain groups to find illegality, and debauched morals?

The money quote:

“The probe...limited by a patchwork of state laws.”

Yes, this is terrible behavior, but the real purpose of the article is to push for nationalization of police.

Funny, the word prison did not appear. Why only losing licenses and jobs? What’s wrong with arresting them and throwing them into prison for the rest of their lives.

1,000 officers who lost their licenses in a six-year period for rape, sodomy and other sexual assaults; sex crimes that included possession of child pornography; or sexual misconduct such as propositioning citizens or having on-duty intercourse Does the last one include consensual liaisons?

So that works out to about 167 (rounding off) per year

In 2008, state and local law enforcement agencies employed more than 1.1 million persons on a full-time basis, including about 765,000 sworn personnel (defined as those with general arrest powers). Agencies also employed approximately 100,000 part-time employees, including 44,000 sworn officers. Source

That means .021% are guilty of the crime being reported on (167 / 809,000) 809,000 = full & part-time sworn officers.

In contrast Obama is our 44th President, and one of our President's have been accused of this very crime, though never indicted or convicted.

If his accusers are telling the truth this means 2.27% are guilty of this crime.

So we must conclude that you are 100 times safer around police officers than Presidents of the United States. We won't even get into other political positions and politicians. We might actually start to fear our governments, both local and Federal.

I don’t get this. How did they find out the cop did that. Was he videoed? I don’t see any facts here, just a story. Tell me that his seamen was all over her and the DNA proved he did this or something.

Because in this case, the “certain group” are cops and the illegality is rape using their badge of authority. I’d say that’s about as serious a crime as there is.

Funny, when you first start reading this, it sounds like OK City had 1000 officers charged.
In reality it looks like 1000 nation wide.
Something here sounds like an AP attempt to push an agenda...again.

Well, the boot lickers always say we have to wait until ALL the facts are in.

Yes, how outrageous. Having to wait until all the facts are known, when we know they are guilty because no one would ever lie about a police officer.

Besides, only conservatives are concerned with facts.

Just because the article doesn’t mention it does not mean arrests were not made.

Wonder how many of these were I justifications without video. There was a time when the little liar from Corinth would have had someone fired for her little “ walking while black” episode.and she is liar

The preponderance of the replies here leads me to the conclusion that, if one of my loved ones is ever victimized by a cop, a bullet to the offender’s forehead will probably be my best chance at justice.
