F.B.I. Tool to Identify Extremists Is Criticized
NY Times via MSN ^ | 10/31/15 | LAURIE GOODSTEIN

The F.B.I. is about to introduce an interactive program it developed for teachers and students, aimed at training them to prevent young people from being drawn into violent extremism. But Muslim, Arab and other religious and civil rights leaders who were invited to preview the program have raised strong objections, saying it focuses almost entirely on Islamic extremism, which they say has not been a factor in the epidemic of school shootings and attacks in the United States.

The program, according to those who saw it at F.B.I. headquarters, called "Don't Be a Puppet," leads the viewer through a series of games and tips intended to teach how to identify someone who may be falling prey to radical extremists. With each successful answer, scissors cut a puppet's string, until the puppet is free.

"The greatest threat facing American schoolchildren today is gun violence," he said. "It's not Muslim extremism."

"Teachers in classrooms should not become an extension of law enforcement," said Arjun S. Sethi, an adjunct professor of law at the Georgetown University Law Center.

Whew! One less thing teachers need to do.

As soon as I saw the KKK listed as a “right wing” group, the presentation lost all credibility.

It had conservatives, rights groups, etc. also. It basically equated anybody who has a problem with the government as a “terrorist.”

Really? "Gun violence" does not happen in a vacuum--something causes it. In order to control violence, you have to look at what causes people to choose to be violent, not at the weapons they use after they make that choice.

Judging by some of the news in the recent past few years, Muslim extremism is a big factor in people choosing to be violent. Restricting access to guns won't change that. Some kid being radicalized isn't going to suddenly love rainbows and unicorns because he can't get a gun; he will just choose another weapon, like a pressure cooker.

Yeah, I noticed those too, but that has been a meme on the left for a long time. That it took this long for the “patriot” label to be impugned by a police agency was the more surprizing twist I got there.

As you are likely well-aware the KKK was formed by, and its membership consisted mainly of, southern Democrats. This information seems to have gone down the “memory hole”.

Some uninformed metrosexual apparachik wouldn’t know that.

In the end, this government considers you a terrorist if you are not willing to be a “subject.”

Wait for it, that might well change. (But Muslim extremists use guns, too!)

The Taliban protests our use of drones in Pakistan.

Blam! (your protests are duly noted)

Just which "extremists" is it that have murdered people? How is it the school shooters are now "extremists?" That implies a belief system and an organization to be at least tangentially related to.

Reason #10,493,767 to shut down and padlock the government indoctrination centers they call schools.

Our kids would be safer, spiritually, morally, intellectually, and physically, and we could immediately cut our state budgets in half.

In the former USSR, parents were terrified of their children.

Why?

Because the teachers taught their students to report anything their parents did or said that went against the government.

This sort of tool is encouraging the same type of “spy locally” mentality.

They’ll start with the obvious “extremists” (Islamofascists, etc.) but you know that the end goal is eventually to brand every patriotic American who supports the USC and the Founding Fathers as “extremists.”

To me, it’s terrifying that .gov has the power to define what is “extreme” and this under a regime that will brand obvious terrorism as “workplace violence” and refuses to use the term “terrorism.”

The tests the government uses for identifying terrorists are flawed because they don’t use mirrors in the testing process.

The exact opposite of the truth coming from someone who refuses to use the mirror in the "extremist" test.

Did you know that Republicans also passed the Anti-KKK act?
"Google Enforcement Act of 1871" for more info.

And what would be the profile of those gun holders?
Hint - It is another protected minority.
