15 years of Vladimir Putin: 15 ways he has changed Russia and the world
The Guardian ^ | Wednesday 6 May 2015 | Alec Luhn

Days before he was elected to the Russian presidency in 2000, Vladimir Putin told the BBC that Russia was “part of European culture” and that he “would not rule out” the possibility of it joining Nato.

“I cannot imagine my own country in isolation from Europe and what we often call the civilised world,” said Putin, who was still acting president after Boris Yeltsin’s sudden resignation on New Year’s Eve 1999.

A generation later, as Putin marks the 15th anniversary of acceding to power on 7 May 2000, Russia has changed beyond all recognition from the chaotic, open free-for-all it was under Yeltsin. Internationally it faces isolation, sanctions, a new cold war even. At home, despite economic decline Putin enjoys perhaps the highest popularity rating of any Kremlin leader – an approval rating that topped 86% in February.

Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny that Putin has made a huge impact on his country and the world.

The Russians have wanted czars for at least the last 600 years, and the only reason Marxism “worked” there was because the premiers were seen by the people as if they were czars without beards. Russia is where Hobbes lives; America is where Locke is supposed to live, and may some day live again.

As long as the average Russian has enough vodka and smokes he doesn’t give a rip who is in power. They like a strong man type government because a “Stalin’’ a “Man Of Steel’’ will do what the average Russian never does— take responsibility for themselves.

Czech Defense Minister: "Russia is Orchestrating Muslim Invasion of Europe"

Posted By: TRT NEWS October 31, 2015

Prague, Czech Republic - Russia is orchestrating, coordinating, and funding the ongoing invasion of European countries by Muslim, military-age males, the Czech Defense Minister shared with IDNES.cz on October 10th, 2015.

According to Martin Stropnicky, the Defense Minister for the Czech Republic, he was informed by the Hungarian Defense Minister Istvan Simicsko that Russia was financing the busing of military-age Islamic males across the borders of the Balkan nations.

-snip-

Speculation has been rife for some time now that Russian forces have been plotting a ground invasion to retake the former satellite states of the Soviet Union, and eventually capturing the European capitals.

The overwhelming of these nations' borders, social services, and law enforcement mechanisms would destabilize and weaken the internal security controls when Russian military units would make their move.

"The Russian Federation does not desire a unified and cohesive European Union," Stropnicky said in the interview. "I do not envision the current invasion ceasing anytime soon."

As the Russian Federation has modernized its military forces and transformed its military theory to a hybrid combination of special forces, infantry, and airpower, it has made impressive advances in its latest generation tank and fighter jet, both of which purportedly claim to be superior to American counterparts. ..."

Maybe having their tourists blow up by Muslim terrorists will cure them from sucking eggs. How many incidents like that would it take to tarnish Putin’s image with his people?

He’s already ass deep in alligators (as a wise man used to say to me) and has to interpret the crash as an act of terrorism in order to keep the grumbles away. He’ll now raise the water level a little more, and a little more, and a little more, and the gators will rise with it.

As I said when he escalated in Syria, it’s popcorn time — there will be a little something for everyone around here. Iran had been trying to figure out how to extricate, and their proxies the Hizzies (currently the occupying foreign power in Lebanon) were being motivated by apocalyptic rants from their leader; Iran had been press-ganging foreign nationals fleeing Afghanistan and Pakistan in a search for work, giving them some training, and shipping them to Syria.

Putin’s cowboy imitation in Syria is his last roll in pursuit of saving Russian influence in the region.

From Aug 23, 2015:

"a recent investigation conducted by Novaya Gazeta, one of the few independent newspapers left in Russia, complicates this cozy tale of counterterrorist cooperation. Based on extensive fieldwork in one village in the North Caucasus, reporter Elena Milashina has concluded that the "Russian special services have controlled" the flow of jihadists into Syria, where they have lately joined up not only with ISIS but other radical Islamist factions.

In other words, Russian officials are adding to the ranks of terrorists which the Russian government has deemed a collective threat to the security and longevity of its dictatorial ally on the Mediterranean, Bashar al-Assad."

Understanding Provocation [Provokatsiya]

March 29, 2014

One of the most powerful tools the Kremlin has in its secret arsenal of Special War is provocation, what they call provokatsiya.

While Moscow cannot claim to have invented this technique, which has existed as long as there have been secret services, there's no doubt that Russians have perfected the art and taken it to a whole new level of sophistication and deviousness. At times, it can become a strategy all on its own (not always, mind you, with edifying results).

Provokatsiya simply means taking control of your enemies in secret and encouraging them to do things that discredit them and help you. You plant your own agents provocateurs and flip legitimate activists [in this case, dupe actual Jihadis -ETL], turning them to your side.

When you're dealing with extremists to start with, getting them to do crazy, self-defeating things isn't often difficult. In some cases, you simply create extremists and terrorists where they don't exist. This is causing problems in order to solve them, and since the Tsarist period, Russian intelligence has been known to do just that.

While this isn't a particularly nice technique, it works surprisingly well, particularly if you don't care about bloody and messy consequences. ..."

Sadly, not many people understand this, and naively think that American-style republican government can be exported not only to Russia, but to cultures that have even less of a tradition of liberty, i.e. China, Africa, the Arab/Muslim world. For many of those nations and cultures, authoritarian government is the only alternative to anarchic chaos or sectarian/tribal war.

So when starry-eyed reformers, whether they call themselves Democrats or Republicans, liberals or neo-conservatives, go around saying that they will export "democracy" the world over, it's good for a laugh but not much more.

Putin is a genocidal psychopath with a powerful military that has nukes. He is playing both sides to cripple the West. He and Russia are our enemy, anyone who is selling the opposite is suspect IMO. Russian trolls across the internet.

We need a strong leader like Trump or Cruz to deal effectively with Putin and Russia. Obama’s weakness has give Putin room to invade and infiltrate.

Russia will continue to use Muslims to hurt our interests and Europes.
