How the Left Responds to Defeat

A few locusts were crushed under the boot of American Exceptionalism last Tuesday.

The creeps in Houston, who wanted disturbed men to have access to women's bathrooms, were defeated by a 24-point margin (although it may well be argued the 38 percent who supported such a ballot measure in a major American city is cause enough to lower the flag to half staff). And two city council women in my home state of Iowa were thrown out of office after voting to remove a Veterans' Memorial cross from a public park.

Two locusts do not a swarm make, though, so the celebrations should be tempered. Many conservatives have written hopeful pieces about tides turning and progressive overreach, and I hope their optimism is rewarded in each and every case, but I am wary.

That's because losing teaches very few, if any, lessons to those seeking to replace God with madness, um, I mean (in my best Thomas Dolby voice) "science!" In fact, they tend to double down all the more on the cra-cra and call in America's black-robed masters, or bureaucratic tyrants, to do their bidding for them.

Democracy be damned. You will be made to care.

"Convincing large numbers of people driven by fear and religious beliefs simply will not happen," wrote Brynn Tanehill of the LGBTQabcdefg?!#$@ organization SPARTA following last week's referendum loss. “And 99 times out of 100, these aren't the people who matter. The people who matter are policy-makers who have the ability to change the regulations which make life difficult for transgender people on a day to day basis. Bureaucrats, administrators, judges, HR benefits, directors, school superintendents, police chiefs: these are the kinds of people who need to be courted, convinced, and motivated to action."

This is no different than it was with homosexual marriage. More than 30 state referendums were passed defining that foundational institution as existing only between one man and one woman, but that was before the courts bullied their way into the picture to rewrite reality.

Give these devils their due. They never take their foot off the gas. Just last summer they got the U.S. Supreme Court to cave and endorse this fraudulent hijacking of a civil rights movement, so forgive me if I'm not quite ready to believe that what happened in Houston marks the turning of the tide.

In fact, I have evidence to the contrary. Houston's lesbian mayor, Annise Parker, had people talking boycott of the city's 2017 Super Bowl just as happened earlier this year in Indianapolis following controversy over religious freedom legislation. Just think about that for a second. One of the greatest economic boons any city could hope to have is a worthy hostage for those who believe Bruce Jenner is somehow Rosa Parks.

When people fall into deep perversion and exchange reason for madness, there is nothing righteous and pure they will not seek to destroy. This is the unruly crowd outside of Lot's house the night before the sulfur fell.

The lesson: If at first your lies don't succeed, lie harder next time. So Ted Trautman's 2014 story at Hot Air, titled "Sex-segregated public restrooms are an outdated relic of Victorian paternalism," becomes last week's "Hate Trumped Fairness" editorial in the New York Times. Which screeched that "Sometime in the near future, a transgender teenager in Texas will attempt suicide and maybe succeed because vilifying people for their gender identity remains politically acceptable in America."

The propaganda is thick, and it is coming at us from every angle. An aging stoner named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is ranting about how Ben Carson, the world's foremost neurosurgeon, is full of "repressive, muddled and pious policies and opinions" and would "perpetuate the stereotype that blacks can't be effective CEOs, quarterbacks and leaders."

The drip, drip, drip of dumb that inflicts our children on college campuses was embodied most recently by a Bowdoin College professor, who was frustrated China was slowing down its taste for forced infanticide and female gendercide by ending its one-child policy. She thinks couples not only in China, but across the world, have no right to more than one child. Because women only have a right to do what they want to with their body if death is the foremost option, I guess.

And oh yeah, I almost forgot. As many as 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 20 members of the U.S. Senate have ties to either communist organizations or the Muslim Brotherhood. Good times. That's according to Trevor Loudon, who is raising money to complete his film "Exposing the Enemies Within."

"They would not pass an FBI security check to work at the post office," Loudon said. "This is not just academic. These are people who are running the country deliberately."

Seems to be a lot of that going around lately. It is relentless. It is hostile. And for many, it is exhausting to the point of giving up.

That is why we should be careful to claim victory beyond last week's immediate battlefront. Never, as Darth Vader once opined, underestimate the power of the dark side.

Appropriate. Until we reclaim public schools, there will be no lasting progress but only stemming the tide.

It’s all Bush’s fault anyway, isn’t it?

“As many as 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 20 members of the U.S. Senate have ties to either communist organizations or the Muslim Brotherhood. “

Didn’t Cruz just push for the Muzzie Bro-hood to be labeled a terrorist organization? He should have included CAIR in that too.

These ties are unacceptable and all those involved need to be purged from the government. Islam is not a religion at all and deserves none of the protections we give a real religion. It is a totalitarian method of controlling all aspects of the public’s lives with murder being its most fundamental method of persuasion.

The left has proven over and over that the only elections that matter are the ones they win.

They, unlike we on the right, are keenly aware that there are many other forces that dictate the outcome in the long run and they, unlike we on the right, know exactly how to use them to their benefit.

Unless we become just as savvy AND proactive, election wins for us will continue to be fool’s gold.

These ties are unacceptable and all those involved need to be purged from the government.

I have occasionally thought that America should import two ancient institutions from ancient society: ostracism from the Greeks, whereby the people could vote to expel someone from the citizen body and physically from the city-state (the Romans reserved this remedy for juries), and the censorate from the Romans. Roman censors, chosen by the senate from among its own number, vetted the senate list, removing members for venality, vulgarity, or other public or personal shortcomings.

Other misadventures could land a Roman senator in even bigger trouble. Three senators were executed for causing the mint to emit debased denarii struck around wafers of lower silver content (very like Lyndon Johnson's post-1964 half-dollars), and Spurius Maelius was executed for maiestas, the offense of "greaterness", i.e. of despising the liberties and civil rights of other Roman citizens.
