Donald Trump Releases Trade Plan: ‘China Will Be On Notice

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — GOP frontrunner Donald Trump is releasing his policy plan to protect American workers and businesses from China’s destructive currency manipulation and financial policies.

The move hints he’s planning to come out guns-a-blazing on trade policies at the Fox Business Network debate here in Milwaukee on Tuesday evening.

The hallmark of the plan is a tough guy approach only Trump can pull off with regard to dealing with China. Titled, “Reforming The U.S.-China Trade Relationship To Make America Great Again,” the plan opens with an explanation of what Trump says caused America to start getting beat by China on the world stage in trade policy.

Under a section that details how “Washington Politicians Let China Off The Hook,” Trump puts much of the blame of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s husband Bill Clinton and actions he took at the end of his administration.

Tax has nothing to do with currency manipulation.

Trump should do very well in tonight's debate.

I wonder if Yeb! is stupid enough to attack Trump on un-pegging the yuan to the dollar since his bro W understood China has an unfair and unbalanced advantage.

I think it is so great that Trump is letting us know his plans, he's not shy about anything he says or does...but...I have something I think needs to be talked about and that is why is Trump funding his own campaign...

When a politician or an ‘outsider’ runs for an office, there is always money behind them...super pacs, campaign donors and lobbyists...

When the person wins the office they are going after, these lobbyists, super pac people and campaign donors want something, they don't just give you millions of dollars for nothing....so look at your candidates backers of money...find out all you can about them...they are backing this candidate for a reason...then think to yourself...why shouldn't I be able to fix what ever is wrong, because some super pac guy over here says, no I want you to support my cause, and some guy over there says, nope, I gave you money so you support my cause...

I am for Trump 100% for a lot of reasons, but one main reason he doesn't answer only to Americans, because that is what he is first...American!!!

“Once again Trump is being specific, while those who accuse him of lacking specificity are not.”

It’s unbelievable to me that people can say that after reading his policies. Or they’re not reading them.

Precisely.

Trump is the only candidate who is even acknowledging that this is a problem.

great post! I see Trump having a lot of freedom to say and do what HE believes because he is not beholden to anyone. Once elected, he’s even more likely to follow through than any other candidate. So it is crazy when the whiners show up and say he can’t really do such-and-such. He sure can!

And we don’t manipulate our currency?

Is he willing to put up tariffs so we can sit on a pile of wheat while the Chinese sit on pile of TVs?

Donald needs to read Milton Friedman.

Trump may be able to hire smart guys to give him economic advice, but they can’t debate for him.

Thanks Ed, Michelle!

I believe Trump has played all things well, by holding until he sees the whites of their eyes.

No candidate has really spilled his guts yet, but for using the blandest of terms and generalities, with regard to coughing up details of policy, only for the Democrats and GOP Establishment to parse up between themselves and use against the candidates. It’s a whole year out. Who needs to take a bath for the next twelve months from engaging in mortal combat, beginning this early.

Even Hillary the Martyr is yakking it up only on only the small and divisive stuff that serves to incite and grab the attention of the minority mules she uses that compose her ground troops, but she’s mute on national and foreign policy for the sake of her Marxist donors, to keep those doors open, money flowing and Soros happy.

Without the fake pegging of the yuan to the dollar, China would never had its industrial revolution and moved closer to this century. Much less become a military threat.

Those who clamor for “free trade” profit from selling out the US, plain and simple.

Before you say anything to me about understanding China, I’m married to a Chinese woman and travel there often.

How Currency Manipulation Creates American Jobs

In this case the "manipulation" is to America's advantage and China's disadvantage, because the undervalued yuan and overvalued dollar makes Chinese goods cheaper and more affordable for American consumers and companies, saving us billions of dollars, and making us wealthier and China poorer. It would be like accusing Wal-Mart of "manipulation" for offering "Everyday Low Prices," and saving Americans billions of dollars??

2. As the chart above shows, almost 60% of imported goods are: a) industrial supplies (chemicals, commodities, raw materials, etc.) and b) capital goods (machinery, equipment, parts, tools, etc.) which are mostly purchased by AMERICAN COMPANIES as inputs for production in the United States. Being able to purchase Chinese and other foreign inputs at the lowest possible price makes American companies MORE competitive, sell MORE of their products, and hire MORE American workers. Therefore, China's currency "manipulation" helps American companies and actually SAVES and CREATES jobs here.

Update:

3. For the artificially cheap consumer goods purchased from China with artificially overvalued dollars, thanks to the "manipulative" Chinese government and Chinese people, those cost savings don't somehow just evaporate or disappear. To the contrary, the money saved most likely gets spent on other goods and services, many of which are produced by American employees working for American companies, stimulating jobs in those sectors.

For example, the $100 saved by an American consumer purchasing artificially cheap Chinese tires, might spend that extra $100 taking his or her family out to dinner more often at local restaurants, helping to save or create jobs in the local restaurant industry. That is, some Americans working in the restaurant industry can thank the manipulative Chinese for their jobs.

I think that’s why Cruz is silent on the immigration issue. Surely as the ‘only conservative in the race’, he knows the conservative position. Yet is avid supporters trash Trump at every turn but cannot answer about Cruz’ plans. That wasn’t good enough for me, having been a happy escapee of 2 ruined border states. I jumped on the Trump train as soon as he said the word ‘deport’! Yeah, Trump!

You are so right. Follow the money and everyone else is bought and paid for. We, the American people, are first only with Donald Trump.

With everyone else we are only the chumps to be deceived into voting for them so they can support their fat cat donors.

Hard to buy something from Wal Mart when you no longer HAVE A JOB!!!

Your simplification of economics is laughably propagandistic.

Before we transferred our middle class to China through their currency manipulation, people had jobs. Note the labor participation rate???
