ORLANDO, Fla. - While there are many strange and unique things at the Republican Party’s Sunshine Summit in Orlando, this vintage convertible Volkswagen Beetle promoting presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) may take the cake.
The Beetle was parked Outside the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel and golf course on Saturday.
On the hood, the golden Cruz-mobile featured an eagle along with the slogan:
“We want our country back.”
Check it out:
The ragtop Cruz-bug displays artwork from conservative street artist Sabo, who crafted the infamous portrait of Ted Cruz covered in tattoos.

While at the summit, Cruz gave a speech Friday detailing his plan to curb unauthorized immigration.
I love it.
Weird, somehow I knew it was going to be a Beetle!
“Contemporary Conservative Art doing its part for the cause” ping .....
I really love the Ted Cruz/Mockingjay posters because it is really effective on a subconscious level in terms of messaging to a large segment of society that would not normally be considered reachable.
Sorry, but that car doesn’t meet NHTSA safety regulations, and the tailpipe emissions will cause global warming.
It must be confiscated and crushed.
On the hood, the golden Cruz-mobile featured an eagle along with the slogan: âWe want our country back.âI'm sure Germany would like to have their country back. But what does that have to do with Cruz covered in prison tattoos with a cigarette dangling from his lips?...
Actually it's low-class disgusting.
A foreign car (I don't think Beetles were ever made here) with a disgusting tattoo covered idiot that resembles a prison inmate more than a US President...OH, and using a car from a foreign manufacturer that has scammed the American buying public out of billions...
NO CLASS IDIOTS!
And what better place to display that slogan than on the hood of a German made car?
I think it was a STUPID choice. The Volkswagen Beetle was Hitler’s People’s Car and if we want our country back as is clearly stated on the car, we should be seeing a FORD or CHEVY painted up instead of a GERMAN bug. STUPID STUPID MOVE!!!
“SEE THE U.S. A. with a CHEVROLET!”
They were made in May-Hee-Co, however.
Bump....I never understood the attraction of that pic either.
“But what does that have to do with Cruz covered in prison tattoos with a cigarette dangling from his lips?..”
That is the most disgusting picture. It immediately brings to mind the MS13 gang members coming in from South America.
Just a thought regarding Chevrolet.. yes, it was purchased with the money confiscated from American citizens, but the company was purchased by an Islamic cabal. Hardly AMERICAN!!
I wonder how Cruz would explain that picture to his daughters?
Are we talking THEN....as in the epoch of the Beetle.....or are we talking NOW?
The Chevrolet was the symbol of every day America. Ford too.
As others noted, the choice of a GERMAN car was hardly being American especially with the line about getting our country back. The bailout has nothing to do with it in my humble opinion.
If Americans had bought American cars instead oif the Jap cars right and left, GM would not have had so much trouble, and if it had been allowed to go into bankruptcy and reorganize, it would still be an American company. neither one happened.
I remember Pearl Harbor and D Day. I’ll never drive a Jap car, nor a German car. EVER!
Sweet!! Some freepers need to chill a bit. I think the beetle is fine, as is the tatted up Cruz art work. The beetle was an icon of freedom and a statement against materialism for the hippies of the 1960s, who were rebelling against societal norms telling them not to listen to rock and roll, dance, etc.
The message conveyed on the beetle is individual liberty, especially the freedom of speech, which is under serious attack by the radical leftists in this country now, especially on our college campuses. Yes, some may get tattoos and smoke cigarettes as part of their freedom—so what? I think Cruz may be able to pull off attracting some of the “millenials” to his pro-freedom, pro jobs message.
