The Strategy Continues As Is: Breaking Down Obama's 'Striking' Remarks on Paris Terror

President Obama just spoke from the G-20 Summit in Turkey, where he rejected the idea that a large-scale deployment of American troops in Syria is the answer after the Paris terror attacks.

At one point, the president called Friday's attacks a "setback" but touted the current strategy that is in place to combat ISIS in Syria.

"There will be an intensification of the strategy that we put forward. But the strategy that we put forward is the strategy that is going to work. It’s going to take time," he said.

Following the 45-minute remarks, Bill Hemmer recapped, explaining that those who were hoping for an "it's them or us" type of speech, did not hear it.

Instead, the president pushed back on the notion that his strategy is not working or that he has underestimated the power of ISIS.

Hemmer, reporting from Paris, said the Q-and-A made it quite clear that Obama accepts "there are evils" that are now a reality of the world we live in.

"The president's strategy, as stated over the weekend, continues as is," Hemmer said.

Bret Baier then joined the discussion, calling Obama's responses to the questions "truly striking."

Baier noted that the most passionate remarks from Obama were about the need for the U.S. to accept Syrian refugees and not discriminate.

He said a Special Ops commander recently told him about a "palpable frustration" within the ranks over the president's refusal to "unleash" American military power against ISIS.

Watch the discussion above and some of Obama's remarks below.

You have to understand 0’s mindset.

O is at his core, anti-American. Iran, and the Shia of ISIS, are anti American. Therefore to 0, they are “the good guys”.

He can be drug kicking and screaming to pretend to take action by the politics of the event, left to himself, he would do nothing

There will be an intensification of the strategy that we put forward

Can someone tell me what that is, other than endless talking?

He mentioned that they were continuing to talk with “our friends” as well as Russia and Iran “on the other side”. I thought “wow, he just un-friended Russia”

We simply cannot and should not put “boots on the ground” against islam in a muslim country that is dumping hundreds of thousands of able bodied military age muslim men on European and US welfare as “refugees”

Has our military gone mad to expect that?

I loved that “it's going to take time” statement. It reveals how detached he is. While his brilliant strategy is congealing, people are getting mowed down in cafes on Friday nights. It's acceptable though because his plan is working.

Show of hands -- how many want troops deployed to Syria to combat ISIS? Zero? That's the nickname of the guy who's in charge and he doesn't want to deploy troops, either.

Maybe someone with a set of cajones should ask Obama how his strategy on Syria is any different than his strategy on Libya.

Another thread today contains a Guy Benson piece in which he points out Hillary's, as well as the other Dem candidates' refusal to identify the "threat." Is it not that they are just following their leader who, even today, when given opportunity to identify and contrast the ideological roots of America's principles of liberty and individual pursuit of happiness, as stated in our Declaration of Independence, with those ideological roots which motivated every terrorist who has attacked us and others of Western thought, he took that opportunity and, before the entire waiting world, in pitifully small halting, faltering, words and phrases clearly designed to defend his own 7-year record, wasted the moment.

What a missed opportunity!

Prosecute 0dinga, Lynch, Jeh Johnson, John Brennan, Valerie Jarrett, etc., for aiding and abetting an enemy of the United States (ISIS) by FAILING to SERIOUSLY put an END to them!

“We simply cannot and should not put “boots on the ground€...”

Although “boots on the ground” of course means actual soldiers fighting in other countries, I think the phrase also has come to be an example of a policy of “We will do WHATEVER we have to keep our country safe and free.” You, sir, may have good, sound reasons for doubting the efficacy of “boots on the ground” when fighting Muslim radicals, but I suspect Obama opposes such for the exact opposite reason: he thinks it would work! Putting boots on the ground is just one thing Obama won't do; other things he won't do are allow our military and intelligence people to speak directly about Islam, close our borders, refuse refugees from Muslim countries, and really bomb the hell out anywhere in the Middle East where ISI could be wounded.

Obama was raised Muslim by his dad and was never Baptized in his racist black church either.
In your opinion does this man act like he is more against the USA or ISIS?
I’m beginning to believe he would protect ISIS more and that is a horrible thing to feel about our own President.
I think Congress and the Senate should impeach Obama if he insists people from the Middle East come here.

Repubs should begin to recycle every stinging analogy Obama made about them. ‘Who drove the car in the ditch’ and all those.

Call your reps and tell them not one Syrian refugee is to be admitted to the USA.

You do not want another 9/11.

You do not want another Paris ...this time on our soil.

For the morons in DC who say we need to take our fair share of refugees, our fair share was 7,000 dead men and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and 50,000 wounded warriors.

That was our fair share.

The Arabs with all their oil money can take care of their brothers.

Not our problem.

Make the call. It is time the jerks in DC are reminded who the bosses of this country really are.
