Governor Pat McCrory held a press conference Monday afternoon to discuss Syrian refugees in North Carolina. He started out by giving his condolences for victims and families of the Paris terrorist attacks and said that it went beyond France, that it was a global tragedy.
Because of the recent events, McCrory said he is asking the federal government to cease sending Syrian refugees into North Carolina. He said that background checks were not currently adequate and that there needed to be more security measures in place.
Several other U.S. governors are threatening to halt efforts to allow Syrian refugees into their states in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Paris, though an immigration expert says they have no legal authority to do so.
The governor said that North Carolina has received 59 refugees so far with little to no security information, sometimes not even their names.
McCrory and other governors are responding to heightened concerns that terrorists might use the refugees as cover to sneak across borders. One of the attackers in Paris had a Syrian passport, and the Paris prosecutors' office says fingerprints from the attacker match those of someone who passed through Greece in October.
McCrory warned that reports have said that ISIS has bragged about sneaking fighters into countries disguised as refugees, and because of that new security measures are warranted.
"I care for these people," he said referring to the refugees, but warned that some of them may be from ISIS.

Good. He is one of the few with any sense.
Obama must stop this madness. He is going to directly responsible for the death of Americans on American soil!!
Another governor saying his state will refuse refugees. Get ready for an Obama vs. GOP governor federal govt vs. States rights battle. I think Obama will take action to force states to take refugees. I really think he would do that. Stay tuned.
Maine just signed on.

He should go one step further and not accept any Muslim threats, er, "refugees". But at least this is a step in the right direction.
West Virginia on the map now, but I can’t confirm it.
YES!!!!
Hallelujah! Thank you Lord.
I’m glad our Governor has decided to stop the influx of Syrian refugees . . but I am horrified that NC has already been accepting refugees for whom there is no background check , . not even NAMES! With out modern technology . . there is no excuse to put innocent citizens at the mercy of foreigners without first having proper background checks and up-to-date credentials. It is insane to run a country this way.
How many states is that now? Any idea?
Let me repeat: The only refugees we should even consider are women and children, and boys only up to the age of 11. Older boys and men - no. And then ONLY after 100% vetting - the kind BHO should have gotten.
Check out the map at http://redstatewatcher.com/
Then add South Carolina. They should update the map soon.
I expect OK and Tenn to sign up soon. By the end of the week, the map will be mostly red.
Thanks!
Did I see Mass on the list? Wow!
thx for website
Yep, totally transforming America. Gee, might of been nice for some journalist to ask what sort of "transformation" he was talking about.
When these governors follow up by sending out their National Guard to STOP the refugees from setting foot in their states, I’ll KNOW they mean business. Good to see so many governors LISTENING TO WE CITIZENS AND HEEDING OUR RAGE.
