The Russian Defense Ministry on Friday released multiple videos showing Moscowâs continued air and sea operations against targets in Syria.
In one of the videos, Iranian F-14 fighter jets appear to escort Russiaâs long-range bombers as they fly toward Syria to strike areas held by the Islamic State, the terror group that claimed responsibility for downing a Russian passenger jet in Egypt and killing all 224 people aboard at the end of October.
The video purports to show âcombat sorties of the long-range aviation of the Russian Air Force against terrorists in Syria,â according to its the caption.
Boris Zilberman, an expert on Russia and the Middle East at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said that the video points to continued military cooperation between Russia and Iran and also suggests that Russia may be launching cruise missiles into Syria from Iranian airspace.
âThat portion of the video was very likely taken over Iranian airspace,â Zilberman told the Washington Free Beacon, pointing to the portion of the video showing Iranian fighter jets escorting the Russian bombers. âAnd it begs the question of whether Russia is firing cruise missiles into Syria from Iranian airspace. Either way, this shows again continued Russian-Iranian military cooperation.â

pong
I want an F-14.
I want an F-22 Raptor :~ )
F-22’s are cheating.
Thats why Dear Leader had them killed.
Imagine the outcry if Israel was doing what Russia is doing. ISIS is a world pariah and the only ones doing anything about it are Russia and Iran.
On every day in every way Obama is being shown up as a Muslim loving, America hating Marxist
The symbolism is obvious. But what/who is the threat?
They certainly have a one team one fight attitude. Putin is big on Iran, and his shortsightedness is similar to Obama’s when it comes to the mad mullahs of Iran.
The only logical reason for the bombers to require escort, is not to protect them, but to ensure that they don’t strike Iranian targets.
Now is that a real concern? I doubt it, so its likely all symbolism, although the Iranians still have to deal with their own ideological conflict of allowing infidel warriors over Muslim territory.
Any Sunni flying a fighter. In the growing Shia/Sunni rift, Russia has sided with the Shia. That means Iran, the Iraqi majority, the Syrian governing minority, and Hezbollah.
“They certainly have a one team one fight attitude.”
Negative. They only understand that’s necessary for now.
“Putin is big on Iran, and his shortsightedness is similar to Obamaâs when it comes to the mad mullahs of Iran.”
To compare Obi to Putin is short-sighted. I don’t think you really mean that. Putin has been around the corner way more than Obi. One thing is for sure, Putin much better understands mullahs of Iran’s mentality - something the U.S. still has to work on.
I think you’re right that Putin, a former KGB Colonel, has more simpatico with the mad mullahs.
He doesn't seem to cotton much to the one in the White House, maddest of them all.
No, Putin’s anti-Americanism is almost as great as Obama’s.
I wouldn’t call him ‘sympatico’ with mad mullahs. Simply that he gets their mentality & uses it to his advantage.
