Over 70% of Republicans polled prefer an anti-establishment candidate. Trump and Cruz are the major beneficiaries of this anti-establishment trend. Whoever the nominee is he will be anti-establishment. The establishment cannot allow such a candidate to win. A true conservative, if elected, will uncover much criminal activity by Democrats and Republicans and this cannot be allowed. I’m not crazy about Trump or Cruz but I know about their enemies. That makes either one of them good enough for me.
I don’t totally trust Cruz...the H1B visas and paving the way for TPP to pay with only a simple majority...and not sure where his idealism ends and his opportunism begins.
He just a bit to good at using words to manipulate others and so have to look at his actions and some of them need a lot of explaining.
Trump says what he thinks - he is a no BS guy. And he is a builder, a guy who has been in the trenches of life and succeeded. For me that carries a lot more weight than a wordsmith.
Ted Cruz has got heart.
America loves the underdog.
Rocky Rocky Rocky
TPP to pay - meant to type "pass"
Trump as Apolocreed, Number one heavy weight champion of the world, Number 1# in the polls : Trump’s campaign advisers, “ He don’t ( Ted CRUZ as Rocky ) know it’s all a show, he thinks its a real fight “
Yet you think Trump is a model of idealism and not an opportunist at all? Despite changing tons of his positions in recent years to be closer to what GOP primary voters like. And coming out for ethanol subsidies in Iowa while Cruz came out against them. Trump has far more markings of an opportunist than Cruz.
Let's just say...Cruz had this same relationship.
Would he be skewered...and vilified?
Yes, he would....
Fair enough....
Absolutely. Hatred of GOPe is a high-value endorsement.
"The big question for us 'is the republic actually dead?' and is Obama just the first caesar?"
the artist said. "The welfare state and the Kardashians are the 21st century version of bread
and circuses... Is this a democratic republic, or just a Washington D.C. TV show that is
pretending to be one, while the Federal government laughs at the plebes... If Cruz is the
candidate, we have a chance at restoring the republic."
The fair weather Trump fans will be singing a whole different tune shortly in the next few weeks.
Those who gamble on Trump will be the last to know that they have been had, set up.
Only suckers will gamble on a Donald Trump.
Viva Las Vegas !
Enjoy your little party a little while longer.
Does Trump bus in Union Workers at his rallies to make it appear YUUGE and make it appear he has a lot of support ?
You got to give credit where credit it due, Donald Trump is surely a craftsman of Showmanship.... No one can take that away from him.
He has it down to a science.
I trust Trump more. He doesn’t need to be doing this...I think he is genuinely disgusted by the state of the USA and he’s got the skills to fix it.
Why was Cruz the one who saw to it that TPP only has to pass by a simple majority and what about the H1B position? Like any lawyer when he was in private practice he defended big business from the little guy. I can’t blame him for that because it’s what he was hired to do - but that is part of the problem inherent with being a lawyer. Cruz is slick with words...really good at it. My antenna are up due to the TPA, the H1B visas, and his wife’s position at Goldman Sachs.
I’d vote for Cruz if he were the nominee but I prefer Trump.
Trump is big business and defended himself from the little guy.
Trump has said he wants educated foreigners who graduate in the U.S. to stay and become citizens. At the debate he said he had no problem with Zuckerberg’s desire to bring in foreign workers. His web site policy doesn’t get rid of H-1Bs, it modifies the program, which Cruz has also proposed to do.
We’d probably be better off if we only needed 50 votes to pass a lot of things.
Cruz disagrees with Trump on domestic surveillance, Snowden, the Cuba embargo. I agree with Cruz, who holds the more conservative positions.
lol. A GOPe anti-endoresment is the kiss of life!
Speaking of huge endorsements, Rush Limbaugh was raving about Ted and his conservatism today, especially with the great week Ted has been experiencing in the polls.
Rush also played the clip of Ted’s condom statements. It was hilarious! And it was the first time I’ve ever heard Cruz laugh.
So you don’t have a problem with TPP?
I remember Trump saying that an Indian guy graduated from Harvard and then had to go home - where he started a business and now has 4 or 5 thousand employees. I find it hard to disagree with having productive people stay here but this business of having Americans train their cheaper replacements has got to stop.
I do have a problem with Zuckerberg ...except I don’t know the stats - do we have enough Americans to do these jobs?
I was offered a job at Microsoft and have to say I might as well have been in India..have never seen so many in one place before. Are American schools not graduating enough qualified people?
Cruz is a good talker, a good arguer, and by all accounts brilliant. But does that mean he’s a leader? I don’t think so. Read an article that said he ran for president of his debate team and he was so disliked, despite being the top debater, that his fellow debaters found someone else who didn’t even care, and the other guy won.
I’d like to see Cruz as VP - just don’t see him as POTUS at this point.
Thanks for the comments supporting my original statement.
Lee Atwater was pretty reviled within GOP circles. Bare-knuckled political street brawling (which is how Dems fight, and win) just doesn’t mesh with the more genteel type of go-along-to-get-along politics that most of the GOP leadership is comfortable with.
Another article not too long ago described Cruz as a prodigy when it comes to political fighting. So he not only fights to win, but is damn good at doing so. It’s easy to see how that would tick the GOP accomidationists off.
A president also needs diplomatic skill which Ted Cruz has in spades. While many of his colleagues don’t see it, that’s their own fault for screwing over the nation that Ted Cruz loves.
I would love to be a fly on the wall the first time McConnell and McCain meet up with Cruz after the election and have to say, “Good morning, Mr. President.”
