Congress is eyeing a year-end budget-busting tax cut blowout. Lawmakersâ latest effort to renew a hodgepodge of temporary tax breaks is swelling into a catch-all measure that could cost more than $800 billion over 10 years. The money would go for everything from extending generous write-offs for business investments to renewing tax credits for poor families to repealing or delaying Obamacareâs much-loathed Cadillac tax. All of it would be unpaid for, which is giving budget hawks nightmares.

Dont accept the premise that tax cuts cost any thing.
It really is time for tax reform. But even more so than that, its time for someone in Washington to grow a spine and CUT freakin spending. The chances of that happening are less now than ever, now that the GOP has given up on fiscal responsibility and is simply doing the Chamber of Commerce’s bidding.
Oh my yes Politco, Americans should be upset about the TAX CUTS in the bill not the trillion or so in useless wasteful spending
The Republican establishment(Ryan, Mcconnell, etc) are as dangerous as Obama to this country’s future. They are just as dangerous. They are equal partners in the destruction of this country.
“Unpaid for” tax cuts?
Whose money do they think it is?
Oh wait, it’s Politico.
Tax cuts don't cost anything. It's the failure to cut spending to offset the reduction in revenue that is what costs us.
Its much more fun to spend money than it is to cut spending.
Congress loves to give; not take away. There are no votes in taking things away.
Our once noble experiment in democracy is failing. Our Founding Fathers would be horrified by what’s going on today.
Right, it’s the cuts that are unpaid for, not the spending...
Every time the Congress gets together, it’s another Trillion dollar pork fest. Didn’t Boehner just fall on his sword for the last one a couple months ago?
