BEIRUT (AFP) -

Syrian Turkmen rebel fighters have seized three villages from the Islamic State group near the Turkish border in clashes that killed 13 from the ethnic minority, a monitor said Saturday.

"This is the first time that Turkmen fighters have led the battle against IS in the area, and that comes after they received support from Turkey," said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor.

He did not provide details on the alleged assistance.

The Britain-based group said the 13 fighters killed since Friday were members of the Sultan Murad Brigades, made up of Turkmen fighters, battling IS in the northern province of Aleppo.

The clashes were centred on a region to the east of Azaz, a town on the Turkish border, that is home to many of Syria's Turkmen minority, it said.

It added that the Turkmen had captured three border villages.

Now that Turkey's agents control the border area, they will be able to say they are buying locally produced TURKMEN oil and shipping it over the border.

Never mind the black flags.

Oh, and turkey has also place an armored battalion with 25 tanks in the Kurdish portion of Iraq.

I would not put it past Erdogan if he were the source of the San Bernardino hit to create a diversion for his moves in Syria/Iraq...before the joint Syrian/Russian armored offensive and the Iraqis making a move on Mosul.

I don’t trust any of this. It is all coming from behind. Obama and others, including these Turkmen, seem to only be doing something against ISIS now that Russia is in the mix and exposing their fakery. If they are really fighting ISIS, great. I just am not sure I believe it.

Remember, the San Berdoo shooter was connected to Al Nusra, the militia that controls Idlib...the next territorial objective of Russia and Syria.

And the "Turkmen".

Help me out here: I’m supposed to cheer for the Russians, because they are bombing ISIS, but not cheer for the Turkmen when they capture some villages from ISIS?

The Russians aren’t ISIS. The Turkmen, who knows?

There is little discernible difference between the “Turkmen” militias, Al Nusra and ISIS.

So I am told. But they are fighting each other, which appears to be the new FR standard. So what gives?

"So what gives?"

Turkey needs that oil to come in under a different flag.

SO they fire up a faction of Al Nusra/ISIS that is mostly Turkmen, or led by a Turk, and seize the border villages.

But the guys with the guns move freely between which flag they fight under, because all the real logistical support comes through the government of Turkey.

And, after all, Jihadis got to get paid too.

Don’t forget, the Russians were bombing the Turkmen when their plane flew over the border and got whacked. The Russians aren’t really interested in ISIS, they just want to prop up Assad.

"So ISIS had a friend in Turkey, but no longer. Got it."

Essentially correct. Turkey chose a new broker, but they are not enemies with ISIS and still offer material support.

Something feels very rotten here in Denmark. And Turkey is behind it. Erdogan is a real stinker who can’t be trusted by anyone.
