I watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer the other day. Forgot it featured a water pistol, as one of the misfit toys.

Zero tolerance policies exist to do only one thing - absolve administrators of personal responsibility for their decisions, and thereby enable the kneejerk enforcement of tyranny.
Bring back personal responsibility, make teachers and administrators subject to private suits for abuse of power, and this crap will stop instantly. The only thing a totalitarian bastard fears is personal responsibility.
Then make them liable for suits for non-enforcement of rules and regulations, and watch them quit en masse.
And good riddance to scum.
