Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) clashed with Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) over immigration reform during Tuesday's GOP presidential debate, comparing his rival's past position as one supporting "amnesty."
CNN
Cruz could be seen on camera laughing after CNN debate moderator Dana Bash noted that Rubio has claimed on the campaign trail that his immigration plan is not much different than his.
"He has attempted to muddy the waters," Cruz said, claiming that Rubio chose to "stand with Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer and support a massive amnesty plan."
Cruz argued others, himself included, "chose to stand with Jeff Sessions and Steve King and the American people and secure the border."
Rubio went on to accuse Cruz of supporting "legalizing people who are in this country illegally."
"Ted Cruz supported a 500 percent increase in the number of H1b [visas]...and Ted supports doubling the number of green cards," the Florida Republican said.
"It is not accurate, what he just said, that I supported legalization," Cruz shot back. "Indeed, I led the fight against his legalization and amnesty bill."

neither won
Comparison time!
Cruz 12/16/15 “It is not accurate, what he just said, that I supported legalization,” Cruz shot back.”
Cruz 2013: “I donât want immigration reform to fail. I want immigration reform to pass, and so I would urge people of good faith on both sides of the aisle, if the objective is to pass common sense immigration reform that secures the borders, that improves legal immigration, and that allows those who are here illegally to come in out of the shadows”
Team Cruz Last month: “While Cruz may not support legalization, he hasn’t definitively ruled it out. His position, his campaign said, is that he’ll refuse to even discuss what to do with the undocumented population until the border is secure.”
Liar liar pants on fire
Cruz and Paul tag-teamed Rubio all night and disemboweled the lying little prick.
And Cruz and Trump were obviously two simpatico peas in a pod.
My impression is that several of the candidates were angling for cabinet positions. Cruz would make a great VP, awesome Supreme Court justice or even awesomer SecDef. Paul would be hell on wheels as SecTreas, and Christie would probably make one of the best Attorney Generals in the history of the country.
The thing about Trump is he knows how to pick great people and delegate, telling âem what he wants done and then leaving âem to do it, unlike obama whose cabinet has always been picked to be nothing but flunkies and yes men who arenât allowed to wipe their own butts without first getting permission from obama.
Trump also supports a policy “that allows those who are here illegally to come in out of the shadows”. He just wants then to touch the border and come back.
*YAWN*
Well, I know that is a lie because he discussed it tonight after the debate. If you broke the law coming here you leave voluntarily or else.
I saw it myself.
I disagree, Rubi exposed himself as a liar tonight. Only problem is nobody probably cares.
His statements? Or are you referring to a supposed lie in my post? The quotations are straight from Cruz. They are not made-up fabrications.
I heard it with my own ears tonight, a post debate interview.
He distinctly said, if they broke the law coming here then they go back. No amnesty, period. So get over it.
For later.
What was he saying just a couple of weeks ago, or in March, or in 2013?
Go read his 11 page immigration policy paper on his website and see for yourself instead of just being a PITA like Rubi.
He has been very lawyerly, unlike Trump who says, “send all their butts back”. Something Cruz could not get away with and is not his style.
Why aren't you answering my question? Is it because you've read THIS thread, so you're choosing to be as dishonest as possible?:

Ok smart ass, I told you what he said tonight.
WHAT QUESTION CAN’T YOU ANSWER FOR YOURSELF?
Okay smart ass, I'm asking you what he said in 2013, 2014, 2015, and through most of the campaign season until put on the spot by Marco Rubio tonight.
Can you honestly declare that Ted Cruz has NEVER supported legalization? Yes? No?
Can you tell me Ruby has never supported amnesty? Good god man he campaigned explicitly in Florida against it. Why else do you think his political future in Florida is finished, he can’t even poll decent in his own home state.
Cruz and his attempted ammendments to the gang of 8 bill in 2013 were successful moves to prove the incencerity of the gang bill and their own dishonesty. It was all done in conjunction with senator Sessions.
Rubio is a liar. The people of Florida know it as well as the rest of the republican electorate. Just look at the drudge poll for tonights debate.
Of course Rubio supported amnesty, and Ted Cruz supported a compromise position where he would grant illegal aliens legal status but keeping them from a pathway to citizenship. Cruz specifically stated, "I never supported legalization!" Yes he did. He did so for 3 straight years.
