The fundamental fallacy is that precisely the same argument could be offered for an utterly different and incompatible conclusion (e.g. “If the Buddha got it all wrong and you become worm food instead of having the pains of existence dissolved away in Nirvana, no harm no foul” or “If the Koran is just some bronze-age kooky rantings and you become worm food instead of getting your 72 virgins, no harm no foul” or whatever).
And completely ignoring the even larger problem, e.g. “Hey there, I love you. I really do. What do you say, wanna hop in bed?”
With the problem being, G_d is way smarter than a blonde sorority tart.
In fact He’s omniscient ... with the possible exception that He does not know what is engraved in the human heart.
But if you grant that, than you must accept that He is not omniscient.
So `Pascal’s Wager’ is problematic, as well as more than a little meretricious.
I believe Jesus is the Way and that every other way is not. My beef is with silly approaches to evangelism. The old drunk at the mission, when asked if he wanted to accept Christ, was onto something: “No thanks, I have enough problems already!”
Stepping from darkness into the Truth can be earth shattering for a person. So often believing in Christ sounds like all the other junk people do and say “My life has improved 1000% since and all my problems are a thing of the past.”
Christians should just preach the Gospel and trust God to save people through it, no matter how good or bad it seems to turn out afterwards. Jesus is attractive to the downcast and poor in spirit.
Of the two, only Islam offers you a choice. And of the major religions we add Christianity.
In all other religions what will be will be regardless of what you believe. But Islam and Christianity offer you a chance to determine your eternal destiny.
As to why you would chose one over the other, just compare Jesus as an oracle of God to Mohammed. I don’t think that’s a tough call at all.
