If anyone is on the fence.... fyi:

According to a memo that we received from the National Rifle Association, current and prospective members will soon be facing an increase in the cost of membership dues for most membership types.

Current members will soon receive a notice in the mail announcing the increase, which will take effect in early 2016. Associate membership and annual Junior membership dues remain unchanged while one, three, and five year memberships, as well as Life, Junior Life, and Distinguished Life membership types will all see an increase as follows:

1-year dues will increase from $35 to $40 3-year dues will increase from $85 to $100 5-year dues will increase from $125 to $140 Life dues will increase from $1000 to $1500 Junior Life dues will increase from $550 to $750 Distinguished Life dues will increase from $375 to $750

Perhaps if they quite sending out all the junk mail, they wouldn’t have to raise rates?

Well, at least they’re loyal to their mission, and they are some of the few who are standing up to Obama.

It costs a lot to send all that junk mail begging for more money.

Pounds and pounds of junk mail, and their endorsing of Democrats, is why I let my membership expire after having been a member for decades.

They could reduce it even more if they ended their lobbying in Washington and stopped their legal representation against anti-firearm lawsuits across the country....Would you be happy with that?

As a side note, when was the last time the NRA increased their membership dues?

I was a member of the NRA and as soon as I would renew my membership, they would send me notice about renewing for another year.... after I just renewed....and the volume of the mail!!!!! Just couldn’t take it anymore.

The NRA caved in the 80's to un-Constitutional background checks. That was the start.

Just like Republicans who want to raise the gas tax now that the price per gallon has dropped.

Screw ‘em—They give money to Democrats.

A whole $5 after 20 years

If the NRA had 20 million members none of this Gun Control BS would ever see the light of day

Too many gun owners are riding on the backs of those who don't think $40 is too much to protect their rights

You can opt out of the junk mail by calling NRA membership and asking them to “set the do not promote flag” (their terminology). It has worked well for me.

After 25 years of membership I called on the NRA once to hook me up with some legal aid against an unjustified refusal of a conceal carry permit. Eff em.

their endorsing of Democrats,

You seem to have overlooked this:

NRA-backed federal limits on gun lawsuits frustrate victims, their attorneys

As well as all the other lawsuits the NRA has filed across this country on behalf of firearms owners, which by the way has cost the NRA millions of dollars in legal fees...........

Your history of NRA bashing is documented here but it is what it is...........

So let me ask you this, without the NRA, who is going to support you in both the courts and Washington?

An NRA Lifer since 1986. Looking back on it it was cheap.

Got the email and a snail mail notification. Will continue my membership, as I’ve done since 1966.
