Swift did it all without Paglia’s help.

I don’t know that much about her except for the videos I see at the gym. She seems very talented and is very beautiful. The comment about her was a shocking smear. How completely rude.

More proof that Feminism is at a dead end. I mean really, Taylor Swift? Huge source of misogyny there! /s
People need to stop giving these loons their money and attention.

All one needs for an explanation here is to look at the two of them. The reason for the outrage becomes quite obvious.

Swift is a feminist's dream mostly come true. She is young, smart, self-made, mind-bogglingly successful, in charge and fiercely independent, both in business and in her personal life; she is unmarried and runs her personal brand with an I-make-my-own-decisions attitude. Swift has power, control and command of her life, all the things today's young women are told to pursue.
All true. But people who write about music like to write about suffering and failure. They think it conveys authenticity. If Robert Johnson or Blind Lemon Jefferson were successful, in charge, fiercely independent and running his own brand with an I-make-my-own-decisions attitude, he wouldn't have had much of a following among music critics.

Women execs will tell you their biggest detractors are other women. I never heard of Camille, but it’s clear she is jealous of Taylor’s success.
To: presidio9
Paglia used to be interesting. Now she sounds like a bitter, jealous old dyke. She wishes she could hang around with Taylor and her friends.

Swift is a fourth-wave feminist—and Paglia completely doesn’t get it.

...famed feminist critic Camille Paglia published a shockingly scathing attack on Swift, calling her a blond, elitist ''Nazi Barbie''.That wasn't very nice.

I recently saw personal phone photos on facebook of Taylor Swift visiting a young cancer-stricken child.
The photos showed enough to demonstrate these aren’t one-minute photo ops.
So that was nice.

Reckon Paglia could possibly be jealous ‘cause she can’t
sing and rake in the big megabucks that Taylor Swift
does? (I don’t know Paglia. She might sing. I dont’ know)

This is somewhat surprising. I recall Paglia writing a wonderful defense of Sarah Palin at the height of the PDS war on successful, conservative women.

Wow! What happened to Camille? She used to sound sane a good part of the time.

I think I replied in an original post some weeks back:
This is what bitterness looks like. I’ve loved Camille Paglia columns over the years. She’s like the only feminist I can understand.
But why would you pick on somebody not even supposed to be on your radar screen? And of all topics for being beautiful and successful. Please tell me how she has failed?

I find myself wondering why Camille Paglia would waste time and ink writing a scathing commentary about Taylor Swift.
I mean -- if Taylor Swift is anything remotely close to the biggest challenge we're facing today, then surely we are in heaven right now.
