I hope Cruz takes it...think he’ll be great. But, if not, then Trump’s best chance is with Cruz as VP to bring along the hard right. This combination would be close to unbeatable. Trump is a smart guy...would see the merits in this constituency merger. Plus, Cruz could help him navigate the shark infested waters of Congress and be an ‘Apprentice’ in-training for the big job down the road. Together, they could really start cleaning out the shit house in Washington, which is truly needed for the country!
I agree with you to some degree. Trump has the upper hand with libertarians (aka liberal lite) and moderates, but he can’t win the general election without the support of conservatives. Cruz has the support of true conservatives, but needs more moderates to win. Unfortunately, Trump is only conservative on immigration, but the rest of his policies (abortion, gays, economics, etc) are no different than Hillary’s so I doubt Trump will appeal to conservatives in a general election. Most true conservatives will stay home rather than vote for Trump. However, moderates should be easier to win over as long as Cruz can offer them a little reality tv shock value in his speeches/debates. Luckily, conservatives are historically more reliable voters than moderates.
I think Trump offers conservatives enough to get their willing support.
Cruz offers more of course, enough for them to crawl over glass.
Cruz has to win over the majority of the moderates too though. Has to show he can do it in the primaries.
A 40% conservative who wins is worth more to conservatives than a 100% conservative who doesn’t.
So it all comes down to Cruz winning over those moderates.
so by that logic, you’re a big Mitt girl and a big McCain girl....and your moderate hero Lindsey Graham just broke your heart.
DAMN, who knew the secret to win the hearts of Freepers was to BE A FRIGGIN MODERATE!!!!
“I think both of them, their campaigns have a natural arc, and with both of them, I think gravity is pulling them down. We’ve seen that. Carson is further in that descent,” Cruz was recorded as saying at a fundraiser in New York”
Trump already is in orbit, Cruz is barely breaking through the clouds.
I disagree. Most conservatives that I know won’t vote for Trump should he win the primaries because there if very little difference between Trump and Hillary. We’re tired of holding our nose and voting. Even Trump’s immigration stance has changed from being pro-immigration to anti-immigration over the last 3 or 4 years. All of Trump’s other policies are extremely liberal which will turn off most conservatives. More and more will come out over time and that is why Trump is the only main candidate that isn’t beating Hillary in the polls.
Although, pro-Trump supporters claim that Trump is not beholden to anyone since he isn’t taking donations, anyone with half a brain knows that is not true. Trump is a Clinton friend and financially supported the Clintons and many other democrats over the years in order to get favors and conduct his business. He didn’t make billions being the nice, honest guy. He made billions by screwing over little guys and being supported by those democrats that he funded. Now those that he funded in return for business preferences over the last 30 years do have influence on him. Unfortunately, that means he is being influenced more by liberals than conservatives. Cruz may have donors, but most of his funds are small donations, all from conservative donors.
I don’t see that.
Anyway, 100% conservative support doesn’t win an election.
Let’s hope Cruz can win over those moderates. He’s a persuasive guy with a lot of money so he has a good chance at it.
Your last sentence says it all.
Yes. Gang of Eight.
ME - If you are still sitting on the fence after the last 8 years, unable to decide which is better Liberty or Tyranny, you probably should not vote.
YOU - Youâre making the assumption they know what the different is. Thereâs been many people raised/schooled in the past 25-30 years to believe that free stuff is best.
Good point. This is where Reagan really shined. He believed in Conservatism and loved this country. He could make the complicated simple, and relate to the average voter. The GOP struggles because too many don’t believe in Liberty. Therefore, they cannot explain Conservatism, nor are they passionate about the Constitution, rule of law, or individual liberty. Instead, they chase these mythical moderate hordes by attempting to move to the left, and the Democrats always win that battle.
Thanks for replacing the quotes and apostrophes. It does make a difference.
Well said.
Looking up from where Ted “surging” Cruz is I doubt he can even see Trump.
Hey I guess it must be tough to be wrong on almost every thread. But that’s OK I’ll be here to correct you at every turn. :-)
Don't forget GLOBAL! : )
.
Thank you for proving my point, that only personal insults will follow because you have zip zero nada to add of substance.
Accept that your very post proves ME RIGHT.
LOL, you’re a funny little gal
Lets revisit my predictions and then yours for the debate last week.
Oh wait, you were wrong. LOL!
I was wrong, an astonoishingly rare occurence. My batting average is extraordinarily high.
You will not live long enough to see that happen again...
No doubt this looks like a political silly season to those inside the Beltway. It's the stuff ear-to-ear smiles are made of.
