Trump Claims Credit for DHS Deportation Plan
Newsmax ^ | DECEMBER 26, 2015 | By Todd Beamon

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took credit for the Obama administration's plans to deport thousands of illegal immigrants starting as early as next month and charged Saturday that criminal deportations have plunged because of lax White House policies.

Since Thursday, the front-runner has been slamming the Department of Homeland Security for its deportation plans, which were reported the day before in The Washington Post.

Under the nationwide effort, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would pursue only adults and children who have been ordered deported by immigration judges.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson pushed for the deportations, the Post said, despite the program being been controversial inside the White House.

The report said that Johnson took the step because of a recent increase in illegal immigrants from Central America and a recent court ruling saying families must be released more quickly from detention centers.

Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump Wow, because of the pressure put on by me, ICE TO LAUNCH LARGE SCALE DEPORTATION RAIDS. It's about time!

Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump When will the Democrats, and Hillary in particular, say "we must build a wall, a great wall, and Mexico is going to pay for it?" Never!

Officially, the word "deportation" is not an official law-enforcement term used by the federal government, CNN reports.

Detained illegal immigrants may be forced to leave the United States one of two ways: "removals," which require a court order, and "returns," which occur when immigrants apprehended near the Mexican or Canadian border are told to turn back.

The poor deportation numbers, along with a recent disclosure that a Secret Service agent's gun and other gear was stolen from his private vehicle in broad daylight, led House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz to call for an investigation into Johnson's leadership.

He made this claim to put Hillary in a box. A very tight box.

The program is only symbolic. So, Trump shouldn’t take too much credit for something which is intentionally diversionary.

I wouldn’t do that, considering it is all just talk and will never be done. He has fallen for obama kabuki.

Not thinkin’ so. He just forced them to give themselves more rope, which will come in handy in the general election. Everyone knows that beyond a perp walk or two (which in certain to involve crying children and mothers, not the rapists and murderers), this will amount to a speck of sand ON a piece of sand on a beach.

No surprise, that is what trump does, it is all about him.
The sad part is the announcement to give the few hundred illegals time to scatter.

I seriously doubt Obama’s going to get tougher on anything Trump wants him to. There’s no reason for him to do so. What next, will Trump claim credit for the sun rising?

Maybe Obama will take another page from the Trump playbook and expedite the good ones back.

He is forcing the media to talk about this, thus making it more mainstream.

Trump hasn’t fallen for anything. Because of hum, they are pretending to follow the law. He’ll get even more publicity for it plus keep the issue at the forefront. Something no other candidate would do.

Trump is the only one that puts American’s rights ahead of illegals’.

The only ones deported are those ordered to be deported by a court - hardly ‘good’ ones.

I agree they are all criminals. But Trump is the only candidate not letting them stay. (Which is the definition of amnesty.) All others give them amnesty.

Trump needs to talk about the drunk illegal in Rochester that drove head-on into a car with a father and teenage girl in it. Both are in critical condition while the illegal left the scene, and was apprehended hiding in a ditch. He had been ordered deported before.

This happened on Christmas day.

There will be very few token deportations. The administration is talking tough across the board...on ISIS, on immigration, and on defense against terrorism. They have read the tea leaves and free the electorate figuring out the shell game...talk tough and do almost nothing. Hillary is in danger of being painted with Obama’s feckless foreign policy and that would be game, set, match.

An illegal killed the author of “A Christmas Story” in a car crash years ago, too.

One of these days, these crashes will happen to some of the powerful. Maybe someone will do something then.

How awful. I love that movie.

Maybe Trump will build a wall with all the victims’ names, like veterans’ memorials. Just seeing how many there are would help his campaign if people understood the enormity of it.

But there are only going to be deportations of families and children.
Every night the national news will have video of frightened bewildered children being raided.
No reporting of the social cost and criminality the illegals bring.

It’s just a political ‘optics’ campaign- and it’s against Trump..
