Posted on 12/29/2015 10:43:38 AM PST by TigerClaws

RESOLUTION

Condemning violence, bigotry, and hateful rhetoric towards Muslims in the United States.

Whereas the victims of anti-Muslim hate crimes and rhetoric have faced physical, verbal, and emotional abuse because they were Muslim or believed to be Muslim;

Whereas the constitutional right to freedom of religious practice is a cherished United States value and violence or hate speech towards any United States community based on faith is in contravention of the Nation’s founding principles;

Whereas there are millions of Muslims in the United States, a community made up of many diverse beliefs and cultures, and both immigrants and native-born citizens;

Whereas this Muslim community is recognized as having made innumerable contributions to the cultural and economic fabric and well-being of United States society;

Whereas hateful and intolerant acts against Muslims are contrary to the United States values of acceptance, welcoming, and fellowship with those of all faiths, beliefs, and cultures;

And where are all these “victims” of hatred, bigotry and abuse who have suffered so much because of our intolerance? I stopped at two service areas along the Ohio Turnpike on the way to my in-laws on Christmas Day and saw dozens of Muslims at both of them. None were being harassed or mistreated in any way and, aside from being typically aloof, they didn’t seem the least bit uncomfortable. (Although my wife was sorely tempted to wish one of them Merry Christmas...)

Plainly and blatantly unconsitutional - not that THAT matters nowadays, and certainly not in congress.

Reid and Pelosi made sure that stupid stunts like this never made it to the floor. Republicans haven’t quite figured out how to do that, unless they are trying to keep conservatives from getting their issues to the floor to embarrass Democrats.

When you think about, it took a constitutional amendment to ban alcohol, but not to ban pot. The constitution may be as irrelevant today as the left says it is. It certainly hasn’t stood in Obama’s way, which cleared a path for future presidential abuse. The despotic genie only goes back into the bottle following a “reset.”

“innumerable contributions to the cultural and economic fabric and well-being of United States society; “

How about they try to mention a few? I can’t think of any.

They did, however, change the skyscape of New York City when they took down the World Trade towers.

Keep that list handy. Any time there is a terrorist attack, this "honor roll" should be read out

This list should also come in handy for the 2016 elections.

More PC lies and denial.

1) Islime is not a religion.
2) The Founders would not have tolerated a murderous cult whose ultimate aim is world domination.
3) Muslimes have contributed exactly bupkus to our culture, and the only contribution they are currently making is mayhem.

You could just as easily propose a resolution condemning islime as an unwashed herd of hate-mongering barbarians.

Exactly. Their sole contributions to America are that they altered the Manhattan skyline and drove a bull market in casket futures.

From the other thread about the Democrats introducing this. It is a resolution, an opinion, with no probability of it passing as legislation, UNLESS someone writes it as legislation.

Someone want to explain to Mr. Spencer the difference between a resolution and a bill?

Yes, this article is very misleading. It’s a *resolution*, people, expressing an *opinion*. It doesn’t “criminalize” anything; there is no penalty clause, it doesn’t become a law even if it passes.
It’s a fine thing to be vigilant over the crazy people in Washington, but let’s “cry wolf” over things that aren’t a real threat ... yet.
