Yes, for the founding of the nation, but not for the victory of a specific candidate.

Just in case someone has not pointed this out, Corpus Christi translates to the Body of Christ

Everyone they were alive in, AFTER WASHINGTON, who was sort of coronated.
Adams, Jefferson, Monroe, Burr, et al RAN for the presidency.
Didn't you ever go to school or open a book of American history?

Cruz invoked Jesus, not Reagan

We need a return to faith to bring our country back from the edge of disaster. That can only happen with a Godly leader. We need someone humble enough to pray and ask God for Wisdom.

Sadly enough, this strikes me as pandering and worse, pandering to such a relatively small group as evangelicals, and even more worse, there are many groups bigger than evangelicals who are pretty much just automatically suspicious of anyone who emphasizes their religion too much. Basically, pandering to evangelicals turns off way too many other people and limits Cruz's broader appeal. So when Trump meets with 100 Black evangelical pastors behind closed doors, he's not pandering
But when Cruz organizes with evangelicals, it's pandering.
More nonsense from some Trump supporters.

Oh really ?
As a very young man, he went around fomenting support for the legalization of abortion? Then, he went around, visiting all women and giving them his blessings on their abortions?
Yes, YOU are CREEPY and NUTS !

I’ve read enough of the writings of the founding fathers to know they sounded a lot more like Ted Cruz than you.

Not really. And that's a rather childish way to look at a president. They aren't my dad.
Yes, yes they *were* your dad. Our first President, George Washington, was lovingly revered as "The Father of this Nation". Has the education system so let you down that you are unaware of this? When our nation gave up on role models, it changed. And not for the better. But you can't rewrite history and claim it was never so. I am a child of God and a child of history, so childish I will happily be.

Good quote. Jefferson is not considered as religious as some, but having a copy of his study Bible with his notes, I think he had a very deep faith.

God forbid that the best pro-family, pro-God Constitutional conservative candidate the Republican Party has fielded in the last thirty years wins the nomination.
Are you on the right website?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall Reagan speaking similarly. As best I can recall, he made a more general appeal on behalf of the country itself. I.e.: as a patriot, looking to do his best for the country he loved.

And Reagan was also a former Democrat, and divorced, two other reasons that are supposed to make Trump a horrible person.

King Solomon prayed for precisely that. Decades later, the kingdom was eventually ruined.

You are saying a candidate must be a little evil in order to appeal to an evil people so as to win a leadership role. When we acquiesce to this mindset, we become a little evil ourselves by supporting evil.Exactly. People who say you shouldn't vote for the lesser of two evils should keep this in mind.

And where did electing the Mitt Romney's of the nation get us? Santorum would have made a better president than Obama. Akin would have made a better senator than McCaskill. Etc, etc, etc. They didn't let us down for who they are. We let them down for who we failed to be. And, if we consistently let the good people down, we've earned our place in the muck with the bad people.
