But Trump is a liberal.

He could not have said this.

Just ask any of the Trump-haters here in FR.

Trump is a liberal.

Obama and kids are never out of a gun free zone but it’s ok for you to be.

A friend of mine has 2 really nice rifles, one of which is a glass bedded match grade M1A. The other is a very well put together heavy barrel AR. He’s got a pile of magazines for both and probably 5,000 rounds of hand loads for each.

But not a single sling or magazine pouch.

I just shake my head.

That’s what I’m talking about. LOL.

I own a bunch of purpose-built black or green tactical stuff, but I also have a full set of civilian “guerilla” gear that comes from Home Depot and the hunting department at WalMart and Gander Mountain. All the civilian stuff is dual purpose but if 2A duties every become necessary, I won’t show up looking like the guy that the sniper needs to take out first.

Its not really the gear. Its the mindset. The guys I know with the safe full of guns and no slings do not have the mindset. They have this fantasy of the Big Climactic Hollywood Battle where all the gun owners line up on side and the loyal forces of the government line up on the other and, after a few volleys, they surrender. There is no lead-up with skirmishes and the aftermath is peace, love, and unicorns. It’s the old “Short, Victorious War” theory.

I see Kosovo in our future unless something changes soon.

Yep. You don’t need the hand made ghillie suit. That Mossy Oak from Cabela’s will do just fine. In my experience the OTC stuff is better quality anyway. I know I’d rather have quality private sector gear than the mil-spec low bidder stuff. LOL.

Kosovo, Sarejevo, or Argentina. Whichever it ain’t gonna be pretty and it won’t be over in 95 minutes.

Folks will need more than guns and ammo, too. Every year the leftover FSA money in our account goes to medical supplies. Over the last few years we have gotten ourselves better stocked than most 2nd world dispensaries we’ve seen. It’d be just stupid to die from an untreated infected cut after all.

If you have acces to an FSA I highly recommend you look into it. You’d be amazed at what you can get with those funds.

Every year our parents get a 6 month supply of hearing aid batteries. If things get squirrelly they won’t be available at all. They make great stocking stuffers for Christmas. LOL

Anyway, best of luck to you. I have a feeling 2016 is going to be a very interesting year. I hope I’m wrong, but I ain’t betting that way.

As long as they have a few rolls of duct tape, they can make anything they need.

Won't be pretty, but it'll work.

..not only are people around America waking up, ..

there are many, many, probably millions of people who are inclined to support Trump but just haven't made the decision yet. They will tho. And stunts like Rubio pulled yesterday, skywriting "Trump is Disgusting" for a national TV audience is one of the catalysts that help people make the leap to Trump. Obamas upcoming gun control executive order is another.

Good thing the Minutemen didn’t rely on a roll of duct tape.

“The redcoats are coming!”

“OK. Gimme a couple hours to build myself a powder horn out of this tape.”

We have reached the point where are feelings of cleverness far outweigh our common sense.;

Kids used to have a shotgun in their car at school 30 years ago; and no one thought anything of it.

We didn’t have mass shootings back then. No one asks why; what has changed?
Something has changed; and its not guns.

Gun control is for weak societies. Weak citizens allow themselves to be disarmed. A population who want the government to take care of all their needs.

Strong societies with a healthy self sufficient citizenry, and government with proper boundaries; don’t see a need to try to disarm it’s populace.

It's better to have something than nothing, and better to have better than worse. There nothing profound in that.

On the other hand I'll bet the Minutemen would have loved to have some duct tape at Valley Forge that winter. They might not have been barefoot or be wearing rags on their feet.

Human nature never changes. The Minutemen weren't exactly "prepared" for revolution either (see Bunker Hill).

>>Human nature never changes. The Minutemen weren’t exactly “prepared” for revolution either (see Bunker Hill).

They were as prepared as they could be. They did not live in a consumer society with Amazon at their fingertips and Home Depot just down the street. They didn’t each own 14 muskets and no shoes either. I’m not saying that the guy who scraped up enough cash to buy one gun must have a full set of combat gear. I’m talking about the people who own $5000+ worth of firearms and don’t think about buying any other gear.

From the comments I’ve received, it appears that FReepers believe that a well-regulated militia should only be a safe full of guns. I disagree. A militiaman must be able to turn out with enough gear to permit him to function in the field (even if the field is in the urban setting) with his weapon. We have the time and we have the means to equip ourselves properly now so we don’t have to make slings out of clothesline and duct tape later. Rifles get heavy and you might want to use your hands on the march. A pistol jammed in your belt shifts around and falls out. Is that how a well-regulated militia should be?

I'm with you there, but you should be also be prepared to be next to a dozen guys who aren't prepared. Part of that is being able to show them how to best make do with what they have.

It doesn't hurt to keep preaching, though, brother.
