The dhimmicrat party will only last as long as the money holds out. In truth, the money’s already gone and we’re like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off - mortally wounded but still perambulating.

And I would dispute the central argument of the author - dhimmicrats aren’t patient - they’re dogged and single-minded. Like with gun control or phag “marriage” where the preponderance of the public opinion is against them, they mulishly keep propping up the same crap over and over again.

Or “climate change” - tell me who is the patient ones with regards to the phony climate change crisis?

Yeah right.

NEWS FLASH to you! It will take several republican presidents to undo the damage this arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave has done to this great Nation.

And that is factual

You're joking, aren't you?

These are not national offices like the US Congress which consists of the House of Representatives, and the US Senate. Or the Senate and house members of the states.

since you used the lower case “l”, Ronald Reagan. Upper case “L” as in a Libertarian Party member, only a very few local offices.

Reagan defined libertarianism as the heart and soul of conservatism.

The problem is even when Republicans win Conservatives still lose.

“For all the problems with Obamacare, it’s serving its purpose of crowding out private coverage. It was never designed to be the endgame; it’s an increment. It moves the country closer to a government takeover of health care. That was its purpose; that is their plan. And they waited decades for it. “

“The fact is that the modern Republican party has no interest in conservative victories. They are not even interested in moving toward conservative principles. They are simply interested in getting elected. So every time the nation slides a little more to the left, they do too.”

worth repeating

I have no ideal where the libertarian shaming stuff in this comes from. Sometimes, I think we tend to just project “bad things” on whatever group we dislike.

What?

The only choices we have now are moving toward socialism quickly or moving toward socialism a little less quickly.

Libertarians are wrong philosophically.

But libertarians are right to oppose both the Democrats and Republicans because neither is doing anything that moves America in anyway closer to the ideal set forth by our Founding Fathers.

I don’t remember you specifying national office. I thought you said “Name one libertarian that has ever been elected to office. You can’t”

Game over. Thanks for playing.

I have no doubt you are correct. That it would take several republican or more correctly conservative presidents to undo the damage that has been done.

But I said ... if “I” were elected and was given the unchecked power Obama has wielded.

A president with unchecked power is basically a king, and a king can get a lot of stuff done very quickly if they wanted.

It’s not about purity, it’s about not being awful. The GOP keeps running leftist and demanding we vote for the because of the letter after their name. Run conservative, they don’t have to be pure, they just need to not be socialists that joined the wrong damn party. I’ll vote for an imperfect conservative, I won’t vote for a leftist.

Conservatism is constructive, and liberalism destructive. What the author mistakes for patience is simply the mechanical advantage of destruction over construction, according to the second law of thermodynamics. My physics teacher would ask: “Which is easier; to shuffle playing cards or to sort them?”

The challange conservatives and libertarians have of once again making the federal government accountable to the constitution, is far more difficult a fight than what liberals and progressives face - all they need to do is knock over things we’ve built.

We shouldn’t admire or emulate their methods. Their ‘patience’ is not a virtue, it is just a relentless erosion and deterioration that happens effortlessly for them while they sleep.

I think we need to fight and be very impatient. But maybe there is one thing we can learn from them: destruction. We need to destroy things they have built, such as their tyranny of political correctness. As they’ve shown us, it’s easier to destroy than to build.

Sorry to disappoint you, but a libertarian, or any other third party candidate will ever get elected.

I think you missed the point I was making. Conservatives have been 'trapped' by the GOPe for decades. Trapped into establishment Republicans like Dole, Bush, Mcinsane, Mitchell, Bonehead and now Ryan.

Most Liberal-tarians have much more in common with the amoral atheist Marxists than they do with conservatives/normal people.

Far too many conservatives have forgotten that political victories take time ...

Is that the "incremental" argument again?

_______

What is the "counterargument"?

When did political changes not take time?

Bill Buckley once said that “every conservative is a libertarian, and something more.”
