Chuck Todd: ‘I Think One Guy that Can Stop Trump Is Cruz’
Gambian (via MSNBC) ^ | 1/9/16 | Staff

SCARBOROUGH:... So what's your scenario for an outside scenario for how trump gets stopped at this point?

TODD: I think it's Cruz. I think it's Cruz winning Iowa and somehow, the establishment never coalescing in new Hampshire and allowing maybe Cruz or Trump to be basically neck and neck in New Hampshire but especially if Cruz, I think it's very possible Cruz over-performs in New Hampshire than what people expect because of the fact there's so many candidates fighting for the moderate wing of that electorate it's going to leave Cruz by himself with the Liberals and the smaller group of evangelicals and somehow Cruz taps into the Evangelical support. I think one guy that can stop trump is Cruz.

As some pointed out here on FR, and as Limbaugh reinforced yesterday, and as Todd states here.

Cruz is likely to win Iowa, and is threatening Trump in NH,and that is the reason for Trump's treacherous and classless attack on Cruz's eligibility.

Instead of getting into the ring and fighting Cruz like a man, on the issues and on the merits, trump is trying to get Cruz disqualified. Some fighter.

Limbaugh likened it to the Anita Hill attack on Justice Thomas ...very apt.

Where’s a poll where Cruz is threatening Trump in NH?

Ask Limbaugh and Todd— they said it in national broadcasts.

Well these must have been secret polls because Cruz is no where near Trump in NH. Limbaugh loves Cruz and will push for him despite the fact that would open us to yet another defeat by the left. Todd is praying someone knocks Trump off and Cruz is his Hail Mary.

Trump should take NH. But Cruz should make up some substantial ground after he wins in Iowa.

Or maybe— they just might be a little more informed than you are.

“Instead of getting into the ring and fighting Cruz like a man”

LOL! What?

Cruz has actively avoided getting into the ring the entire campaign season, as a deliberate strategy.

Frankly it was the top reason why I switched to Trump, so dont act like this is some tough campaign fighter. He was perfectly willing to allow Trump to take on Walker, Perry, Jindal, Bush, Carly, Carson, Rubio, and Kashich. He sat off to the side and said nothing, or as little as possible. Once Trump took care of those guys did his numbers even move mostly as people supported him be default.

I sure as hell dont recall Cruz doing any of that on his own. It is because of Trump that Cruz is anything but 5th place. Because if it was because of anything else, his supporters would have tons of examples that they would post constantly multiple times a day.

And judging from all of the wagons that need to be circled around him at the first sign of trouble, I still dont think he would stand a chance in a real political campaign against the dems. Right now he has a gaggle of conservative bloggers and some talk radio guys willing to shout down any criticism. In a general election, he is going to be a sitting duck, because the MSM will drown those guys out in a heartbeat.

Yes, I think basically that’s the hope that the Republicans have for winning the presidency. That Conservatives realize Cruz is their best candidate since Reagan.

What a conundrum the leftists and the GOPe face.

Hillary won't make it through the Benghazi gauntlet. Get real, Bernie? And they sure as heck don't want Cruz or Trump.

Bar any significant voter fraud they are stuck - they will have to settle for the will of the people.

Here’s what concerns me the most about Cruz.

The MSM is working overtime to protect Cruz, who normally is someone they would hate the most.

It appears to me the MSM is protecting Cruz now to tear him down later.

If I’m so uninformed, send me the link to a NH poll where Cruz is “threatening” Trump.

” ... Cruz is te best candidate since Reagan.”

Agreed.

For the Trumpsters out there: Just ask yourself who Trump would appoint to the SCOTUS. Now, ask yourself who Cruz would appoint.

GOPe types can support Cruz if they come to believe he can actually win, just as they enthusiastically supported Reagan once they figured out that Gerry Ford was not the future.

Don't expect much out of NH... They'll be all too happy to pick one of the NorthEast candidates... Cruz just has to survive till the South can say her piece. The South is the hinge.

Excellent post. Saying Trump is afraid to fight is crazy stupid - he's been throwing haymakers in every direction and taking on all comers. Cruz owes the relative success he is having almost entirely to Trump doing all the fighting and dirty work.

Thank you for a logical post in the midst of the delusion.

You’ll have to email Limbaugh and Todd and ask for their sources in the campaigns. I’m sure they’ll share it with you.
