The dems and their cheering section in the media are going to get as much political benefit from this as possible. If they can put doubt in the minds of enough people, their mission will have been accomplished.
Meanwhile, no word on 0bama’s book saying that he was born in kenya.
“Meanwhile, no word on 0bama’s book saying that he was born in kenya.”
None of Obama’s books say that he was born in Kenya.
Their claims and assertions are politically helpful to our cause. (Advancing Conservative candidates.)
But it is still irritating.
He lost me with “there’s little doubt” that he’s eligible. No there’s a lot of doubt, and even the theory proffered (that he because a citizen at birth through his mother) has not been documented in any way.
Not in the text of the book, but it does say so in the bio which went on the book.
For fifteen years, the publicists, Acton and Dystel for Obama’s autobiography, Dreams From My Father, published in the press release for that book that he had been born in Kenya. The release was edited three times in that interim, and the reference to Kenya was NOT changed until Obama began explorations to run for the presidency.
Fancy that. You can readily find the press release on line and see for yourself.
But his book cover did.
I heard Donald Trump is not a “natural born” citizen.
He was delivered by cesarean!
If Cruz is the nominee and this hadn't come up now, the dems would've framed the debate. This pre-emptive discussion is a much better idea. Get it out in the open, and have it settled before the nomination....whether for Pres or VP
Not the text of the books themselves, no, but the autobiographical blurb that he submitted to his publisher, which was included on early editions of his first book stated that he was born in Kenya.
He also claimed that in interviews with the local media when he was first running for state office.
“even the theory proffered (that he because a citizen at birth through his mother) has not been documented in any way”
What documentation do you require? He’s a sitting U.S. Senator, so he has to be a citizen, and he was never naturalized, so he could only have acquired citizenship at birth.
This guy doesn’t understand the issue. It isn’t whether a person born in another country to at least one US citizen parent is a citizen at birth. That’s a pretty cut and dried legal answer.
The questions are whether (1) his mother took any provable steps in Canada to drop her US citizenship, or (2) took any questionable steps in Canada regarding Ted’s or her own US citizenship.
There is little doubt. Read here for a detailed analysis:
“The questions are whether (1) his mother took any provable steps in Canada to drop her US citizenship...”
Hard to prove a negative. Do you have any evidence she did?
.
It’s not a negative. It would be supported in Canada by some office showing up with paperwork.
Circumstantial evidence would be failure to file IRS tax forms each year as if she no longer had to, or failure to file for baby Ted’s CRBA or birth passport to verify his US citizen status.
Tragically, the disaster that is our current President has set new standards for eligibility, but please note what the language of the Constitution says:
The term Natural born Citizen appears in our Constitution, in Article 1, Section 2, with these words, (quote) No person except a natural born citizen [born of two parents who were themselves citizens], or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States. (unquote)
Please note that the founders made the distinction between “Natural Born Citizens” and “Citizens”.
If there were not a distinction in their minds, then there would have been to reason to list both “types” in their list of qualifications.
How do you know any of that? How do you know that he was never naturalized? How do you know that he’s a citizen?
