I doubt that our rulers will ever disclose the truth.
You will never, ever find out who gave the order to surrender combat capable vessels. If the order did not come from the top, why not? Where was Obama? Campaigning?

It won’t come from our “rulers” (ValJarJar and her minions) but the truth is known, just like Benghazi.
I would end up court martialed afterwards than give up my boat(boats) to these animals with their “john boats with sunshades and tassels”. Animals that have the nasty habit of cutting peoples heads off.
Better being a captain of my own bass boat than putting my crew at risk of being prisoners or dead.
With the imposed “Rules of Engagement” if the crews of both boats fought capture, they’d have been court-martialed for firing of the innocent “FISHING BOATS” of another nation. Also charge with the killing of any of the innocent “fishermen”.
After Iranian protest, the MEDIA would have labeled the sailors as “Trigger happy “warmongers” and demanded reparations to the families of the Iranian “fishermen.”
When I first heard about this, and the explanation, the scene in the Avengers where Fury orders the carrier to the South, the guy at the helm responds that the nav system is down and Fury says “Is that the Sun rising? Put it on our left!” came to mind.
Also Kirk telling Sulu that “I don’t think these kids know how to steer” at the beginning of Wrath of Khan.
How much time in navigation classes have these sailors really been in? As opposed to various “sensitivity” and “awareness” ones?
They were testing the Iranian navy and hoping to start a war. Didn’t work so maybe they should try again, with the carrier.
When I was in a small boats unit, I learned how to take out a damned chart, and plot location via landmarks.
Swiftboat Kerrie, and Dumbo ears, have turned our Military into a world joke. Yes.....they “ordered” the stand down, it’s a 7 year precedent. Another strike against the affirmative action president and his wonton destruction of our country. I’m sick to my stomach every day he’s in office.
Maybe the boats were fueled with that crap biofuel.

Did we get our boats back? I think not. The Iranians are having a go at all the neat stuff on them.
Good God!! A functioning $500 GPS in a bass boat gives a constantly moving chart that provides an accurate graphic representation of where the boat is at all times. Those boat had a lot more than that. Their crews never would have surrendered without orders from the highest level.
DAMN obama !!
All the stories said the crews were returned with the boats. The didn’t say whether or not the boats were strip searched.
